After a three year layoff, in which the Lobos dropped to Class 5A and the Horn Jaguars moved over into a district with Richardson ISD, the two foes meet at the location of their last meeting..Lobo Stadium. A rivalry that has developed since their State Quarterfinal showdown in 2010, the Lobos and Jags have fought tooth and nail against one another in the three meetings since that playoff game, with the series sitting at 2-1 in those three games. Longview, who took the Quarterfinal game 28-14, as taken home two of those three. Overall, it's Longview that holds the 8-1 overall series lead that dates back to their first meeting in 2004. Only the 2012 meeting saw the Jags come out on top victorious, a game in which Longview was held to just 70 yards rushing on the night. It was Longview's second loss at E.H. Hanby Stadium that season, and their only season in which they have not walked away with at least a share of the district crown under head coach John King. The two schools are coming in both with 2-1 records, which has seen the Lobos rally from their season opening loss to Lufkin with two dominating performances over Marshall and South Oak Cliff by a combined 118-21. The Jaguars will be trying to rebound from their first loss of the season that came at the hands of Cedar Hill last Friday night. Horn opened the 2016 season with impressive performances over McKinney Boyd and Dallas Skyline. Longview comes into the contest riding a 9-game winning streak inside Lobo Stadium, but more impressively, riding a 35-game district winning streak at home. Longview's last loss in a district game at Lobo Stadium came in 2003 on homecoming night against #9 Tyler Lee, 18-14. John King, head coach of the Lobos since 2004, has never suffered a district home defeat and is a staggering 66-4 overall in district contests. The Horn Jags will be looking for their first ever win in Longview, after suffering 4 consecutive defeats. Horn's only single digit loss at Lobo Stadium came in 2010, when the Jags had an opportunity to bring home the win on the final drive of the game only to be stuffed and fall 13-8.WEEK FOUR 11-6A SCHEDULE:Longview vs Mesquite HornJohn Tyler vs RockwallMesquite vs North MesquiteRockwall Heath vs Tyler LeeWEEK THREE 11-6A RESULTS:Longview 62 South Oak Cliff 14John Tyler 41 Warren East 6Mesquite 31 Garland Sachse 42Mesquite Horn 21 Cedar Hill 59North Mesquite 30 Arlington Bowie 35Rockwall 23 Southlake Carroll 30Rockwall Heath 63 Irving MacArthur 7Tyler Lee 17 Nacogdoches 24DISTRICT 11-6A STANDINGS:1st. LoboFan07
Think this game hinges on if Robinson plays or not. Though I think we have a good chance regardless, that guy is a difference maker.
