Chapel Hill Bulldogs will be coming to Center Friday to take on the Roughriders at home. Chapel Hill comes in 1-5 on the season and 0-2 in district after losing to Henderson 40-14 and losing to Kilgore last Friday 37-7. Center enters the game 4-2 and 2-0 in district after beating Bullard 30-16 and Palestine last Friday in a shootout 20-17. This game should play a big part in the 4th spot in the district for playoffs, Chapel Hill is hungry for a win and is looking to keep playoff hopes alive as they still have to play Bullard and Palestine. Center on the other hand with a win will likely lock up at least 4th in district. Center is has seemed to improve with the young team they have, with the Defense and Offensive line playing there best game so far last week. That being said lets get this thread going and GO ROUGHRIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Depends on what day of the week it is. We are very young on the o-line but they are improving every week. They were playing good last night. D-line is about the same. Made several stops on 4th and short last night. They seem to get better every week, so its hard to say right now.

CH was a lot better offensively up front than the score indicates. No sacks, very few QB pressures. No big negative yardage plays. Stayed ahead of the chains for most of the night. Ran the ball effectively. Probably averaged around 5 yards a carry. There were some plays to be made that just weren't made. Some of it was CH's own doing (underthrowing a WIDE open WR that would've been 6 but turns into an INT, another INT in the red one, couple of drops and misfires) but just as much was Kilgore (the pass breakup on 4th down in the end zone, the DBs recovering on deep balls to break them up several times when CH took their shots). By no means am I saying CH has an easy road, but if CH is going to turn it around the next 3 games are the time to do it.

While I know it's still points scored against them, CHs pts against average is a bit misleading. The defense has allowed 1, 3, 2, 4, 5 and 2 TDs to be scored against them. 5 of those 15 have come in the 4th qtr when the offense has sputtered for 3 qtrs and the game has started to get away.

Here is a breakdown of the losses.

Whitehouse was 21-7 into the late 3rd quarter, and 14 of the 34 pts game off of pick 6's.

Tatum was 14-7 LATE into the game. Tatum busted a long run with like 4 minutes left after another failed red zone trip by CH. I think CH was inside the 30 5-6 times and only scored once. 7 of those 20 came on a punt return.

Gladewater was up 21-0 at half, probably the least competitive CH has been all year. CH defense still strung together about 5 stops in a row in the 2nd and 3rd qtrs but got zero help from the O.

Henderson game was 19-7 midway through the 2nd qtr and CH had Henderson in a 4th and 15ish. Henderson would score on the play and blow it open to 35-7 within about a 3 minute span. (For the record, CH didn't have the horses to keep up with this one. Flu hit school that week which took out several starters, but lets be honest, Henderson may play real deep).

Kilgore was 22-7 going into the 4th with Kilgore having 0 offensive touchdowns. Yes they made 5 field goals, but CH had a lot to do with forcing those field goals. CH was also empty on 2 of 3 red zone trips.

Maybe all this just means CH can't put it together this year, or maybe it means they are mighty close to breaking out of a slump in a big way. At some point the opportunities have to be capitalized on, but the defense appears to be playing well enough to win some games to finish the year and make things interesting.

Good post. From my perspective, I think most everyone that has seen CH notes that your defense is competitive. That is evident by your recaps above. The biggest problem mentioned is the lack of offensive production. Hopefully CH can get the offense clicking with the defense this week.

No doubt if CH can put some drives together and then FINISH those drives they could get this thing rolling over the next few weeks.
