cotton84
Would be fun watching film of the Carthage defense in the district game with Henderson and then immediately watching the film of the defense playing today. HUGE HUGE HUGE difference. Today they played much better technique and made tackles about 90% better. Yes, Henderson had more speed, but China Spring guys could play also. PantherNation2015
He had minus-8 yards rushing entering the game, 2-rushing TD's, and the 14-yard scramble was brilliant and a huge field position play. But, don't kid yourself, he's not a running threat but loved watching him throw it around, great arm and accuracy. With all due respect, he is not asked to be the same type QB as Haagood from CS. Davis is much more valuable to the Carthage offense throwing it.

Smoaky
With all due respect, he is not asked to be the same type QB as Haagood from CS. Davis is much more valuable to the Carthage offense throwing it. I mentioned he has a nice arm and very accurate, but the reason I responded was someone saying, "yea, and the guys from ESPN are saying he isn't a threat to run, " And, I responded, he's not, but that's not his role, still doesn't change what I said. But, his 14-yard scramble was a huge play for field position late in the game, even though Carthage didn't score, China Spring would've had great field position with about 2-3 minutes to go. Good job tonight my man.... Listen to ya some.. Good as always. Thanks my friend, hope you're doing well, it was great to be at this game, even better to broadcast a Classic. cotton84
Hmmmmmmm...... why would Little Belichek run an option play with a QB who is not a threat to run. Got to be smarter than that coach. Oh that's right, that play worked well.
DAWG91
just got home and it really sunk in on way back. Once again the Dawgs D steps up Big in the 2nd half. Only allowing 3 points. Terrific!!!

PantherNation2015
Stafford defense held opponents to 14 ppg before playing Carthage (13 games). We doubled them up on their yearly average. Stafford also averaged 42 ppg on offense this season before playing Carthage. We held them just above half their yearly average. This has been Carthage philosophy since Surratt arrived. Hold the team to half their average, and we will have a chance in the end. So if we take that same math and apply it to CS offense which has averaged 46 ppg in 14 games, we will need to hold them to 23-28 points to have a chance. Their defense has given up the same as Stafford for the season at 14 ppg. So if our offense can double them up, that would put Carthage at 28 points. I don't just bring these numbers out of the air. THIS IS THE PHILOSOPHY in which Surratt game plans for. Now you can't use the same math with Carthage year in and year out on points scored and points allowed. We play the Gilmers, ETX 5a's, Hendersons, and Kilgores of the world every year. Not to mention we played Silsbee, Stafford, and Henderson for a 2nd time in the playoffs. Their is no doubt we have played the tougher schedule. I say all that to say this. I truly believe this is a 1-2 point game based on stats. I am a homer so I will say Carthage 28 CS 27. We hold them to just over half their offensive average on the season, and we score double what they been giving up. But heck these are just stats, and going by past history. Could be way off the mark, but it's fun to look at. Nailed it!

Thank You from a grateful bulldog fan! I could've moved to California and Smoaky.com would keep rolling, it's been fun to add Central Texas to the mix, especially when the two region's collide in the playoffs. You're welcome. Smoak, did I hear you say you haven't been to or broadcasted a game that went passed 3OTs?? I don't believe so, I broadcast 2003, The Woodlands 50 Tyler Lee 48 (3-OT) at Texas Stadium, but I don't believe I've done anything past 3-OT's. CarthDawg77
We've been the Underdawg all season... I don't mind one bit; in Fact, Winning against the odds is all the more sweeter, to me.Correct, if I AM the Dawg that barked it....😋

Liberty
Wow! One of the greatest games I've seen this year! I thought the Henderson Lions and Carthage game in Longview was the greatest I had seen this year, but it got trumped with this one. I wanted to listen to Smoaky on the radio through my phone, but my phone wouldn't let it. The delay on Carthage's radio station was so bad that the next play would be starting before I heard the last one on the radio. So, I didn't get to listen to commentators while the game was being played. Really hated it. China Springs has nothing to hang their heads about, and I shouted it out to them on the way to their locker room. They were obviously upset, but they have a great team. Bulldogs were just the recipient of some things falling their way. A team with 5 turnovers don't usually win. However, the Dawgs held on and I am glad they won! Abilene Wiley is next..........don't know if my heart can stand another one like this.....lol

wtxfootball
Never seen some east Texas football in person before since it's too far away. But I was blessed to see this one. Sat on the Carthage side and the guy next to us was so nice and enthusiastic for Carthage, it was a treat. I'll be pulling for Wylie since I grew up near Abilene. But I've got a major respect for yalls team and community, you've gained a West Texas fan (when you aren't played against us folk from out west). Good luck next week and I hope for a great injury free game.

MoveTheChain
Congrats to the Carthage Bulldogs. Boy, oh boy, did CS have chance after chance to take the victory straight to Jerry World, but the Bulldogs just did not give up. A great game and atmosphere. That Dawg D came up "Yuge" (or maybe "Bigly"?, "Big League"?) and seemed to get better and better as the game and OTs progressed. I'm looking for another shutdown game next week by the D against AW. Get you another title Carthage, you all earned it with tremendous effort over and over again in this playoff run.
wtxfootball
Wylie offense and defense is better than CS after seeing both this weekend. But if Carthage doesn't turn it over 4-5 times like they did tonight I think they can definitely pull it out.
