Aside from that, isn't something like what trueblue said generally what Democrats say about Republican healthcare "plans"? The system is messed up, for sure. But the question I pose is this one: Why can't I just go to a doctor and pay for it out of my own pocket if I choose to? Why does everything have to be filed on my insurance? I know the human body isn't a car, but why not have something similar to a car insurance model? I recently had to replace the wiper motor on my car. I didn't file the cost of the wiper motor on my insurance. The last time I bought tires, I didn't file them on my insurance. Now, if someone damages my car (i.e. someone hits my car), I can file that with my insurance. But general maintenance and diagnostics are usually paid for out of pocket. What's wrong with a model like that? Wouldn't that help bring down costs?

What's wrong with a model like that? Wouldn't that help bring down costs? Yes, but the problem with that is this: that’s what you call a “free market solution”, and it gets people LESS dependent on government, which is the opposite of what all dims (and most goppers) want. You have to stop looking at these people with the idea that anything they do is actually for the good of the American people. It’s quite the opposite. They are after MORE $$$ and MORE power for themselves. That’s what everything going on in Washington right now (climate, guns, taxes, healthcare, etc..) is about. KirtFalcon
What you never hear from the libtards wanting "Medicare for all" is that for people already on Medicare, it only pays 80% of the cost .... individuals are responsible for the other 20% and that is usually covered by a private insurance supplement. So, the dims want to eliminate all private insurance ... that means the government would have to not only pay 100% of the cost for all the "new people" added to Medicare, but the other 20% for the people already on Medicare ... this is lunacy ....

TheNameIsDalton
He touched on a topic we can all get behind. He attacked big pharma for their insane profit margins. He is pushing to require them to state the cost of their products on their commercials. I happen to think this is genius.
CENTEXFAN
If Trump comes up with a healthcare plan that everyone likes, then it would be a landslide victory in 2020. Too bad Republicans told Trump not to talk about healthcare until after the election.

That is why premiums are so high; to cover the indigent who haveNo insurance... Go spend a weekend at Any hospital in an urban city & ask yourself why the hospitals treat people who have no insurance whatsoever instead of turning them away. The reason? Because they Overharge the insurers of those who DO to cover them. NOTHING is “Free” in this world.

My understanding is that legally hospitals and/or ERs have to treat you if it's medically necessary (i.e. broken arm, illness, etc.)
