gamewatcher63
Congrats to Coach Drennon and his family. Coach Joe and his staff at Mineola did a job, that if you asked me 10 years ago, that the Yellow Jackets would one day be State Champs in football..........I would have said no way. Good luck and GO BOBCATS!!!!!!

Mr. P
His time will come . Other jobs are open and will open in the future. Hey, count me among those who understand that's he's headed for bigger and better things in his career. ;) But if he could stay just long enough to build our program into a well-oiled machine (so the next guy can build on his momentum) I assure you that there won't be any hard feelings. Sportsfanatic1
Preston could have gotten a call from Hallsville Super a few weeks back, and he may have decided he liked being where he is. I like him for any job he decides to do. He's a man of integrity just like his dad. Lion may know more than y'all think. Coach Drennon appears to be a great choice for Hallsville. Hallsville is very competitive in the younger grades, but seem to fall off as they get to Junior / Senior level. If he connects well with teenagers he will get some very coachable kids. Their is a lot of heart in these kids and they have learned from little league to high school to never quit. They respond great to a challenge from what I've seen of them, and it will be a challenge for everyone. Let's be clear, Preston was not the candidate that Lion was talking about. I promise you it's a naw on the second part. I will send you a PM.
trueblue82
I never hinted at Carthage going downhill. I was just messing with Lion secretly hoping those Carthage athletes move out of Carthage and into Henderson :p You're both wrong! Everyone knows that all Carthage transfers go to BECKVILLE! Coach Rab
you must not know what mineola looked like before he got there hallsville is a gold mine compared to what mineola was like I don't know... Hookemhorns88
I don't know... Marshall was a better job if he could have gotten it... Depends on if he is being judged solely as a football coach or as an AD as well. Hallsville does well in baseball and track for the boys and softball and volleyball and track for the girls. But how long do you expect him to be able to keep the job without making the playoffs in football?
Yoe09
Before the deep runs began in 2014, Mineola was sub .500 all-time (according to Lone Star). Mineola had an outstanding senior class. What was the fresh/JV record this past year? Just not sure if they are in a reload type of position. Along with talent lost, I'm sure this job is paying considerably more. Hookemhorns88
Yea, Muckelroy was a on the team. Starting FS and split time at RB. Clint Ingram was on that team too I do believe. He made it to the NFL for a few years with the Jaguars.
gamewatcher63
Who has the inside track to replace Coach Drennon at Mineola? Luke Blackwell has been named interim AD. He has been the DC and head track coach. Mineola alum also.
micotrav
Coach Drennon is an awesome man, coach and champion. He will be a great coach at Hallsville. Great coaches are normally smart coaches. They are the coaches that get the kids out of the halls and onto the field. Hallsville has a gene pool and I bet Drennon knows that as well. Mineola has had enormous talent the last four years, but they are like any small town in Texas and a downturn could happen. However that State Championship put life into Mineola. Everybody loves that championship feeling and Mineola will run on that Adrenalin alone for a couple years. LOL! Hallsville is lucky to get Drennon and Mineola was lucky to have Drennon. All will survive.
