Just telling you to make sure your defense is first on the bus or you will give up another 50. Biggest difference is Carthage has a D and it will show up ready to play! CasualObserver70 Posted September 2, 2017 Share Posted September 2, 2017 Ok, home now so a little about the game. Â Both teams played their hearts out, but LE defense wore down in 4th quarter. That's when Gilmer began to gash them with the running game. Â Gilmer secondary got beat over the top a lot. Kept letting kids get behind them. cannot let that happen moving forward. Â Both teams had 3 turnovers, so that's a wash. Â LE has tons of talent, so we will see what the future holds for them. Â As for Gilmer... Webb and Bates should be their running backs. They both have breakaway speed, both are very shifty in the hole, and both have the vision to see the cutback lanes. I saw both turn 3 yard losses into 5 yard gains multiple times tonight. Â Saying that, Gilmer should convince Ward to try to become a dominant defensive end. Or convert him to linebacker. He's a bull in a china shop, but I don't think he has the vision to see the hole. However, he could become a really good defensive player. Â Poppy had two interceptions, but he looks like a more polished passer this year. More touch on the ball, especially on the intermediate and short passes. I also saw him actually make progressions and hit his 2nd or 3rd option several times tonight. Â Really fun game to watch.
