"Graduation is only a few days away, and the recruits of Platoon 3092 are salty. They are ready to eat their own guts and ask for seconds. The drill instructors are proud to see that we are growing beyond their control. The Marine Corps does not want robots. The Marine Corps wants killers. The Marine Corps wants to build indestructible men, men without fear." -- Private Joker
Opinions would change if the cast from FMJ and all the folks who think these hollywood scripts are "cool" and worth mentioning in a conversation about our "real" Marines, were sent to Iraq. There are militia groups for folks who like to spout tough movie lines and shoot at photo targets that don't shoot back. I hear there is a new Rambo movie coming out too! Man I can't wait to see what Sly has in mind for them "terrist insurgints". :happy65:

This guys ability to not only draw a crowd, but keep them captivated without any substance is uncanny. His voice is very charasmatic in its tone. He speaks like a preacher, but delivers nothing but rhetoric and cliches. And these yayhoos hang onto every word like it was in fact gospel.
When you say it like that, he sounds like the anti-christ. You must admit, his rhetoric and cliches sound so much better than MCains. "my friends".

What's depressing is that a simple statement is crushed to death by the oligarchy that is the Mighty Oaks. Let JRowe or whatever alias he chooses to assume speak. It's his right to do so.

On topic...

Obama is the only candidate since I've been able to vote in 2000 that makes me feel something besides disgust or apathy. Barack Obama is my generation's John F. Kennedy. What I love the most is that he is so far from what the current regime is and stands for. We as a people have endured nearly 8 years of embarassment and anguish by a slack jawed religious zealot that has sent 3000+ of my generation and countless Iraqi civilians to their deaths to advance his own political interests. We've seen all our political capital vanish. The United States of America, as flawed and wounded and down on itself as it is, is still the greatest nation in the history of the world. We need, I need, something to believe in. I believe in Barack Obama. Millions of Americans believe in Barack Obama. I want to believe in America again. I need to believe in America again, for myself, for my son. It can be better. It will be better. Barack Obama will take us there. Go ahead and hurl your insults at my thoughts, at my beliefs, at my candidate, at me. The Mighty Oaks and their like will undoubtedly spew their Reagan Conservatism rhetoric. Let them. I don't care. You cannot change my mind, you will not change my mind.

your generations JFK............if JFK would not of been killed he would of gone down as a very bad president. He let US troops be slaughtered at the Bay of Pigs..........He was a socialist..........he gets a pass on alot of dealings because of his death and the fact that america loved his wife.........and some of his girl friends.....

It's always refreshing to see someone so enthusiastic in his use of the first amendment. I can't help but think that if you were even a little right about the current 'regime' they'd be carting you off at the first opportunity.

You are right about a couple of things, but just a couple. This is the greatest nation in the history of the world. And, she can be better, and I believe she will be.

I believe in America, now, as she stands. I will continue to believe in America, even if the people I like aren't elected, even if the people of France or Venezuela don't like us. I have to believe in America for myself, and for my sons and daughter, and I do.

I also believe in Barack Obama. I've seen him on TV, and while CGI is getting pretty good, I think I can tell the difference. That Barack guy, he's for real.

I agree with what the mighty oaks spew a lot more than I agree with you. I have that right, just as you have the right to think and spew as you do.

Good luck with your candidate snort, and I hope you get that touchy-feely stuff under control.

First, you can believe whatever and in whomever you wish. That's what makes America great. The way you describe it, it's a morally bankrupt hunk of land that only the most flawed would even want to inhabit. Frankly, I believe you to be wrong. The President has done a lot of things that I don't like. If he were running in a primary right now with a record like he has accrued over the past few years, I probably wouldn't vote for him. But the President doesn't define the nation. The people do.

I personally believe you to be wrong about Obama. You think I'm wrong in my political beliefs. That's cool. To each his own. Sadly, we may both be wrong. I think Obama is an articulate black man that harkens back to the days of the civil rights movement, only without the substance. He speaks in cliches and makes promises he could never possibly keep. But so do the Republican candidates. That is what politicians do. But to reserve the practice of advancing one's own agenda to the President is at least way off base, and at most, clearly ridiculous. As said, it is what politicians do.

Now, as far as your jab at the mods (all of whom are not Oaks, nor are all Oaks mods) regarding JRowe, you're right, JRowe has a right to speak. As long as he does it within the rules. He has yet to do that. If you don't like that, sorry. You might check the rules yourself. If you did, you might realize that questioning/debating the enforcement of rules in open forum is also a violation. No big deal. Not a threat. Just a point made and a request to discontinue doing so.

I agree with little you post. I'm assuming you can say the same of mine. I'm okay with that. Regardless of which way you vote, above all, vote. It is the one weapon we can use legally to either affect change, or continue with status quo.

No hard feelings.

Nah, I don't think it's him. As I said, not enough substance. If I were going to pick someone who had the appeal to be the AC, it would be someone who travelled around the globe preaching a flawed doctrine that people were buying into in droves. It would be someone preaching gloom and doom and positioning himself as the only one that can save the earth.

Ring any bells?

Spoken like someone that has not read the rules and has no clue what goes on here. We have tried to let JRowe post hoping that he would change but alas, he does not. The Mods and Admins have done everything we can to convince him to stay within the rules. Do you agree that we need rules? If not, you are in the wrong place.

My my. Aren't we cute tonight.

Lighten up Francis. FMJ was one of the best war movies I ever saw. But hello! I realize it is just a movie. I know real Marines. I know the difference. Mantle made a comment about robots. I offered the line from Private Joker/Full Metal Jacket as a humerous aside.

The Marines in Iraq, and anywhere else, will do their jobs and always remain faithful. That does not mean they agree with the war. I happen to know a few Marines also. Active and non-active. The majority of them are ready to come home. They will stay as long as they are told. They, as well as other military men and women, are precious human resources that should not be waisted. I believe you are correct on all points.

I have the utmost respect for the men and woman of our armed forces. Don't let my quote from FMJ make you think otherwise. If by stating the Marine motto you mean to tell us your were/are a Marine, then let me be the one to thank you for your service to our country. You do/did a job that not many want to do.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Why you want to teach your son to take a handout instead of learning to get a leg up is beyond me. Spewing rhetoric is the purpose of a forum such as this so I'll not shirk the opportunity. More nonpower to you.

"rearange" pocket books. He has no idea of free interprise, capitalism or earning your way. Some illegal is going to get to send their kid to college for free while hard working Americans won't be able to.

President Obama, get use to it. It will be a proud day for decent Americans. :notworthy:

Mccain is too old and I don't think his heart can last with all of the pressures that come with the presidency.

Obama seems to be a decent candidate, but I don't think he is ready to lead a country.

I think Mrs. Hillary Clinton should be the next president. If a woman is good enough to be a senator, then she is good enough to be a president. I, for one, loved when her husband was the president and believe that he did a great job in Washington. Besides, if she is elected president, we will have 2 for the price of one.

Vote smart, but go with your heart. Besides, it all comes down to what the electoral college thinks anyway!!!

You should look up the requirements for electors. Most don't have the option to deviate from what you tell them to do.

This is just some made up ####. If "hard working Americans" don't make enough money to pay for it themselves, they'll get grants, the $4,000 one you hear Obama talk about. It's really the same way it is now, but with an elevated Pell Grant.

And from now on, when you say illegal, say the word you're really thinking of. Please.

I heard an Obama ad on the radio today. Allow me to paraphrase:

"If you have been successful at the game of life, too bad. We need to give a do over to people who haven't figured it out and you winners are going to have to bear the cost.

"You stupid people who couldn't figure out that you have to pay that mortgage back...every month...you deserve a break from those mean old lenders who took a gamble on you.

"I'm Barack Obama, not only did I approve this ad, but I am a political superman who will fix whatever ails you...for free."
