Daingerfield78
Well lets get the real truth out. We all know the best guy for this job here at Daingerfield. So with that being said lets do the right thing this time. If its really about the kids and getting the tradition back in Daingerfield we all know who could turn this program around. So lets do the right thing for the kids. They know the coach that they will leave there all on the field for. Its not who we as board members and fans want so we can give our opinion and sit around and drink coffee with. Lets make the right choice this time for the kids and Tradition of Daingerfield Football. Thanx

Tiger93
Daingerfield needs to hire a guy that's going to win on all levels! Not just football. Don't need to hire a motivational speaker, but a winner. Stop worrying about the money because winning will get all that money back. Also allow that coach to hire his own staff. Also make sure that the coach is getting the kids in good colleges.

That is what I heard right after the announcement, that it was all planned. Had me immediately shaking my head. It is obvious to anyone that watched the last two years that no one on this coaching staff could win the kids over to their style of coaching. Like East Texas Finest said these kids need discipline starting at home, then the classroom, then on the football field. They need someone that remembers the tradition, the pride, and what it means to be a Tiger, they someone who has either played or coached here before. It is time for the insanity to stop, I am sure that there is someone out there that can reverse the culture back to what it was.

Mr. P
A few years back my hometown team brought back one of their legendary coaches from "back in the day." He was and is old school. Hard-nosed. Discipline and technique. Physical. Kids couldn't handle it. Daddies couldn't handle it. Coach wasn't there but a couple years. Not saying any of the circumstances are the same, but ya gotta acknowledge the fact that the times are different now. If he is the guy, I truly truly truly hope it works for him and Daingerfield. But everybody is gonna have to buy into what he's doing. From the board to the daddies/mommies to the staff to the kids. Gotta be all-in.
Coach Rab
Not hiring DA (assuming he wants to go back there) to me would mean some people in Daingerfield is scared of losing some power... Like @INTENSIFICATION said... DA would come in and be a rock star... Tom Cruise of Daingerfield... a beloved figure that would appear to hold as much power over the town as any Supt ever could... Bud Kilmer without all of the other stuff in that movie

Wild74
I would like to see DA come back to Daingerfield, that would be a great story. He has a lot of history at Daingerfield. If he is 70 years old he might be wanting to call it a day or maybe he would like to see if he can turn it around at Daingerfield if Daingerfield needs to be turned around, they might be short on talent right now. From what I seen posted though they have some talent coming up.

larry
DA and Bennett did great jobs during their day. DA is like 96 years old and Bennett has to be 93. Don't bring back bell bottoms and 8 track tapes those days are gone. Get a good young coach and build a program. Let the old guys be remembered as winners they earned it but its time to upgrade. Maybe let DA in on the hiring process and wake him up on the long interviews but a job of this caliber needs some youth imho.

We've tried that since 2010 and we haven't had but 1 meaningful run since then. 8 years of mediocrity in Dfield won't cut it. Waldie was "supposed" to be the new age and he tucked tail while he could imo. Idc how old DA is. He's still DA... I know we'll all be disappointed if he doesn't get it but we will move on to the next best candidate I hope.
Coach Rab
Daingerfield is a hard-nosed town and needs a hard nosed coach. Barry Bowman didn't take #### off of any of those kids. He didn't take it from his coaches either. Daingerfield won with him. Hugg before him was a DFW guy who was a great coach, but pretty relaxed on his players. They didn't play tough. I can't speak for the guys who came after those 2, but Daingerfield needs a guy that will be hard on the kids and even harder on his coaches. DA is one of those guys who can come in and right the ship and maybe even train the next guy to take over. 1 2

TTman7
IMO, DF is a place that deserves a top-notch coach that is going to settle in there and stay a long time. They deserve consistency in that position with the athletes they have and also them being a perennial playoff participate and potential deep-run contender. Our town DESERVES for our school board to take into consideration that their last few choices haven't panned out so to speak. Maybe it's time they open their hearts a lil bit and quit thinking so much. It doesn't get much more simpler than that folks. We know what we want. We knw what we need. I don't want them to wait around till it's to late.
SmoakyBandito
Does Daingerfield still have the jimmies and joes they had from 2008 - 2013? They had some big time players then. Not sure if they been down athlete wise, or it's been the coaching that caused the dip in production.
SmoakyBandito
I'm looking back at DF seasons. Man I forgot how dominant y'all were from 2008 - 2013. Y'all were dominating teams in your own division. If not for Gilmer, DF wouldn't have lost a game from 2008 to 2010. From 2008 to 2013 DF beat Celina a couple times. Beat Atlanta 4 times. Beat Newton twice. PG twice. Beat both Refugio and Yoe. That was an impressive run. Beat some damn good teams. 76-15. 3 titles. Another trip to the ship in 2012. 2 more trips to the regional final and one of those trips lost to the eventual champ. I know the Daingerfield guys all know, but I didn't remember how good of a run that was. If you look you can see it starting to taper off in 13', and then in 14' fell off a cliff and went 1-9. Haven't really been the same since. Hope DF gets their guy. ETX football is better when DF is winninh big. One of our dominant programs of the past. Hope they get back on top.

Tiger93
I'm hearing from the source that first reported to me about Waldie moving on, that the job is between Mason or Nelson.
