I just wanted you to quote the whole thing.  I don't agree with Bill Maher, but noticed right-wing websites selectively edited the Bill Maher quotes.

I remember when Rush Limbaugh wanted America to fail when President Obama was elected.

What is the difference ?

Get your facts straight. I was listening to Rush when he said it. Someone who cares more than me will have to dig it out of his archives, (it was a couple of days before the 2009 inauguration of Obama) but I’ll paraphrase: “I get that a lot of people are excited about the historical nature of this inauguration. But when it comes to Obama implementing his agenda of higher taxes and bigger government, I hope he fails! Because his agenda, if successfully implemented, will be terrible for this country. I’m not hoping for America to fail, but I am hoping, and pushing, for Obama to fail in implementing his agenda.” Now, does anyone want to jump on the bandwagon of telling us how the Obama administration was great for America?

Again, not a Rush guy...  but hoping for an entire nation's economy to crash is radically (pun intended) different than hoping an administration's agenda fails.

If Maher had said, "I hope Trump's policies cause the economy to fail," that would be just typical partisan rhetoric.

But that's not what he said.

Correct. Rush was essentially saying “I hope Obama fails because his success will be bad for America.” Maher said “I hope America fails because that will be bad for Trump.” Big difference.

That's pretty much what he said.  He was very specific in what he said ... he wanted Obama's agenda to fail ... because, if implemented, it would be bad for America ... and Rush was exactly right .... That's a far cry from what that ignoramus Maher said ....

I did have my facts straight.   Rush also said; " Americans need to be punished for electing President Obama. "  That statement and the hope he fails statement can only conclude one thing.

Did Rush mean it, or just trying to get shock ratings ?  I don't know.  Same question about Maher on whether he meant or not?  I don't know either.

I’ve never really given 💩💩 about anything that Fat blowhard spews from Cape Girardo, but I’ll never believe Limbaugh wants America to fail...

You'd have to ask one of the other guys on here, because I don't truck with Rush. Never have.

But d'ya have a source for that? Even for Rush that seems pretty over the top.

He said it :

Obama did fail in my opinion.  Nothing he did worked.

Oh, believe me, we were punished for electing Obama. 8 of the worst years in the history of this country. And I remember when he said that, too. He was making the point that people needed to see what happens when you allow liberals to have power. We got a clinic on it from ‘08-‘10, which was when the goppers won the house back running on repealing Obamacare. The fact that they still haven’t made good on that promise is the main reason the ‘18 midterms aren’t a slam dunk for the GOP. I tried to tell the goppers in ‘08, when we had a dim President, senate, and house: take notes. You’re about to get a crash course in how to ram your agenda down your opponent’s throats. Learn from what is about to happen. “Bipartisanship” went out the window. Senate and House rules got changed to facilitate passage of Obamacare. I made the point that “reaching across the aisle” only applies to a republican majority. Evidently they didn’t learn. We gave them the White House, the senate and the house, and they still act like they are the minority. Trump is the only one showing any leadership, and the establishment goppers seem like they’re more willing to listen to Chuck Schumer and Crazy Nancy than they are to their own president. I helped elect Congressman Gohmert and Senators Cruz and Cornyn. I did not elect them to “work with” people like Schumer and Pelosi. I elected them to oppose the agenda those people push, because their agenda is bad for the working people of this country. I hope they understand this. People like me are watching, and we will hold them accountable for their votes.

You didn't answer the question.  Why is it done on one border and not the other.  Good luck getting the Hispanic vote.

What makes you think he needs the Hispanic vote? He’s already beaten your “shoe-in” without it.

Hispanic is the fastest growing group in America.  In most of our lifetime minority groups will outnumber whites.

Bush did pretty good with Hispanics.

Bush was one of the can kickers I spoke of. You’re the definition of a stereotypical democrat. Dividing people into as many groups as possible for the purpose of convincing them you’re on “their side.”

Dems' Generic Ballot Lead Shrinking, GOP Leading in Key Senate Race

Quote

For much of 2017 and early 2018, GOP consultants of a certain age would tell us that this election had the same look, feel and smell of 2006...Today, however, there are plenty of signs that 2018 isn’t like 2006. For, one, Trump’s job approval rating in the Gallup survey is 45 percent, eight points higher than the dismal 37 percent where George W. Bush was sitting at this point in 2006. Data from the most recent Pew Research poll also found evidence of a more energized and unified GOP base than we saw back in 2006. According to Pew data, in June 2006, about one-third of Republicans (33 percent) said their vote in the upcoming midterm was a vote FOR the president. This year, a little over half (52 percent) of Republicans said the same....Republicans are also more enthusiastic about voting this year than they were back in 2006...where Trump is today on job approval and support from the GOP base is a heck of a lot better than where he was back in the fall of 2017. And, it’s way better than where George W. Bush was in the summer of 2006.

There’s an old saying, “Life imitates art”.  Here’s my take on this news.  Sci-Fi has many stories about robots getting out of control and taking over.  I see a similar situation here.  Our Universities have been indoctrinating young people to make good little left wing democrats out of them for many years.  Appears that the indoctrination has gotten out of hand and the results are in the above link.  You know it’s bad when CNN chastises them for being to far left.  If it wasn’t so scary, it’d be funny.

Socialists like Crazy Bernie and this new young female socialist from NY sound so appealing and compassionate on the campaign trail but would be torn a new #### in a national election as their unsustainable "give away schemes" are scrutinized and exposed.  Had Bernie won the dimocrat nomination, I think he would have been trounced in the general election.  I don't think there are enough Crazy Bernie socialists out there to get him elected ... I agree with you about the indoctrination going on in the universities ... I'd like to see any of them getting federal funds be reined in and defunded if it continues ...

The thing we have to remember is this: we’re finally getting what we asked for. For the last 16 years, we’ve been pushing for someone to be a leader on spending cuts. We know that the dims aren’t going to do it, and very few of the goppers have the 🏈🏀 to do it. Trump is the first guy who has had the willingness to tackle the tough issues like immigration and trade. We have no way of knowing where it’s headed, but we know it’s the opposite of where Hillary would take us, and that’s good enough for me.

I can't imagine the path we would be headed down had the Hilldabeast been elected.  We would definitely have two more ultra left justices on the SC and there would be no hope for the judiciary for decades ... we are so blessed we dodged that bullet ...

^ I saw that on the news ... so many of the dimocrat sheep don't even know what's going on ... they just listen to sound bites by Pelosi, Upchuck and the unhinged liberal media ... quite amusing to say the least ...

The sad thing is that many of these ignorant, uninformed sheep will vote in 2016 and 2020 ...

A very very interesting column from Ted Rall on Trump: The Progressives Who Don’t Hate Trump:

Quote

For Democrats to have a prayer of taking back a congressional chamber or two this fall or unseating the president in 2020, party leaders will have to face an uncomfortable truth. For a lot of lefties, Trump hatred won’t be enough to get them to vote. They just aren’t that not into him.

If Democrats want a united front against the Republican, they’ll have to acknowledge that Mr. Trump has re-created the Reagan Democrat phenomenon among the white working class and its allies. They’ll have to do something to keep the populist left inside the tent.

Do y'all remember Ted Rall? He's a far-far-left liberal political columnist who absolutely excoriated Dubya during his presidency.

BTW, this was the top comment in response to the aforementioned article:

Quote

Bernie doesn't have to pretend to hate everything that Trump does. Bernie has a plan. A platform. It's a bad plan. it would be a total disaster, but he is committed to it.  Meanwhile, the mainstream D's just saw eight years of their plan executed to the max. It was a disaster and the voters responded by defeating their hand-picked President.  One of the most well-known names in American politics for the past 30 years was defeated by someone rude and crude and who has zero political experiences. This was a historic defeat. A year and a half later they still don't believe it.  They had an awful candidate with awful policies and they refuse to admit it. All they can do is hate Trump.  It's like a football team that lost the Super Bowl and the cannot get over it. Almost two years later they aren't lifting weights,  designing new plays, or signing new players. They are still stuck in the film room watching Trump's last second 64 yard field goal sail right down the middle.
