Mavchamp Posted January 23, 2019 Share Posted January 23, 2019 BOYS BASKETBALL GAME 8 Lufkin beat Nac 51-46 Marshall beat Jax 55-43 PT beat JT 72-70 Hallsville beat Whitehouse 60-39 BOYS STANDINGS Nacogdoches (7-1) Lufkin (7-1) Pine Tree (5-3) John Tyler (4-4) Hallsville (4-4) Marshall (3-5) Jacksonville (1-7) Whitehouse (0-8) Nacogdoches suffered their first loss in district play to Lufkin as the Dragons and Panthers are now tied for first in the standings with six games remaining. Pine Tree slipped by JT in a high scoring thriller to keep the Pirates all alone in third, while JT falls into a fourth place tie with Hallsville. Marshall got a much needed win to keep their playoff hopes alive. I am not sure either of them lose to anyone else in the district. Both have a 2 game lead on PT and H2H against them so it is basically a 3 game lead with 6 games left. JT has been playing well after a slow start. Marshall Vs. WH: Mavs are on the verge of seeing their long playoff run come to an end. They are desperate for wins to keep themselves alive. Pine Tree Vs. Hallsville: Big Rivalry game. PT needs a win to keep themselves in good shape for the playoffs. Hallsville looking to force their way into the conversation. Jax Vs. Lufkin: Panthers are finally tied for first with Nac. A game Vs. Jax is a trap game. Girls: LP Vs. Jax: This could be for the district championship. Should be a good one! Nac Vs. JT: Nac trying to stay alive, but JT doesn't have much wiggle room themselves. Marshall Vs. Whitehouse: Lady Mavs need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive. They trail JT by 1 game with 4 games to go. PT Vs. Hallsville: Rivals. Enough said. No reason to sit at home bored tonight. BTW..... District Soccer starts next Tuesday. Trying to stay healthy for a playoff run, but I would want the district title. IF they tie the game will be played Friday, Feb 15th(they think) they will flip for home court, SFA is not available. 2nd place team has the possibility of facing #2 Lancaster in the 2nd round. Jeremiah Hood- Houston Baptist 4. Dekendrick Bender- Southern Arkansas 5. Marcus Bledsoe- Louisiana College Champ Mathis signed with Texas A&M- Commerce, but listed DeSoto HS as his school.
