The agenda ain't over everyone of the I believe 7 Lee's were targeted . Sad

Put away your little confederate flag and hit pause on your CD player playing Dixie for the 18,000th time to realize not everything is an “agenda” or “sad” when you don’t agree with it.

North Tyler High and South Tyler high are the ONLY names that wouldn't cause any division among the community.  A person's name.... no matter who it is would be seen as divisive.

If anyone can find fault with geographical directional names they are LOOKING for something to complain about.

What do you think they're doing now?

Did you even read the article?

There was a time when facts mattered … no longer … we have moved into an age where empathy, logic, reasoning, and common sense have been replaced by cherry-picked sound bites of pseudo-factual fiction and knee-jerk emotional thought patterns … to a place where we try not to let facts get in the way of a personal opinion … and where our gray matter turns to oxymoronic mush ... as we limit ourselves to the study of an issue by skimming through just the headlines presented by some agendized source, reading only things that agree with our pre-determined personal concepts ... and as the nation burns - its people just play the fiddle.

Be careful what you ask for... we are talking about different interpretations of history books...  Wait until you get his interpretation... It could be a good mix of Bambi and Game of Thrones...

The media creates their own narratives with just headlines.  People don't read the stories or search for facts anymore... They see "Trump Immigration Bad" and TRIGGERED!

Conservatives see "Black Lives Matters visits East Texas Mayor"  TRIGGERED!

What could actually be happening in either of those situations are legit law, or peaceful constructive talks... but the headline is what triggers the reaction, not the content of the story.

Not really sure he read the title cause it is

Why is Changing Austin’s Name a Non-Starter?

There often seems to come a time when we must lower our expectations  .....

Piney Woods Red Dirt version:

In the not too distant past, how people treated one another was different … our moral compasses seemed to work, more or less, in unison … right was right, wrong was wrong, truth was truth; and gray was the color of the sky when a storm was approaching … perception had little effect on reality – what was real was real – and what was imaginary was imaginary …. today, we don't tend to Gee and Haw with others, choosing instead to plow our field with crooked rows … not caring if crooked rows produce less yield for the common good – it has become ALL ABOUT ME … the result is that we were no longer a nation of laws and men, we are a nation of “Cept Me” people (ie-rules and laws apply to everybody except me) … I am special … and you must make an exception just for me.

And yes I am a proud East Texan ... as my Mom usta say _ "When the men in her family cut themselves shaving, they always bled dirt red and pine green."

It's called Headline Porn, clickbait, or whatever you want to call it. It generates a lot of heated debates and clicks to stories, turning into revenue.

Print media is dying and they are doing what they can to keep the lights on and printers running. It isn't a money grab for a lot of businesses, but a necessity to stay open and in business...

The school board sat motionless on this topic when it came up ,when in the prior vote had several against it.

They found a way to turn it on the people and get it off their plate because of re election votes from their districts , and knowingly .. that it was going to cost millions after the Lee Alumni was going to carry a motion down the road that was going to address the JT name change. They certainly didn’t want to deal with that either. Especially when 2 new schools are being built now costing millions.

I don’t see this the end of it, but because of the above mentioned it will surface again several years from now

I can see where people would get offended. I really do. My only question to these proposed name changes to institutions and also the removal of certain statues or memorials. Where was all the outrage during the 8 years of the Obama administration. Maybe there was and I just didn’t hear about.

BTW..this is what is on one of the statues they removed.
United States troops took over the state government and reinstated the usurpers but the national election in November 1876 recognized white supremacy and gave us our state. McEnery and Penn, having been elected governor and lieutenant governor by the white people, were duly installed by the overthrow of the carpetbag government, ousting the usurpers Gov. Kellogg (white) and Lt. Gov. Antoine (colored).

I don’t doubt that there were pockets around the country on local levels to remove certain monuments. I’m not saying they were wrong to do so. I was simply saying I never heard the National outrage over said monuments. 2098-2016 isn’t ancient history. Where was the “national” outrage during President Obama’s tenure is my question? Shouldn’t our first black president had raised the issue? I mean there were the Ferguson riots and Baltimore riots during his tenure. But still no peep. Not until Trump was elected did it become an issue.
