A little shocked Marshall is getting any attention after our abysmal performance last week.

We can redeem ourselves with a strong performance this week against a top notch program.

But if we come out against Carthage like we did against Longview..... we will get it handed to us again.

After a 2-8 record we will probably have to go to at least 7-0 before they take notice lol good news is these polls don’t matter. No team will look forward to playing us come playoff time.

what state is it that you get in the playoffs if you win your district then the polls decide the other teams?

Louisiana has a selection committee.

District champs get automatic bids.  But everyone else is by invitation.  Stronger districts get more teams in.... weaker districts get less.

Yeah they got Gilmer next . Gilmer in rough few games if they don't fix the pass defense. Newton & Carthage umm....

Agree.  Inability to cover the slant across the middle, and inability to seal the edges on the run are gonna make it tough on us against those two.  Our DBs have to learn to read receivers eyes and TURN AROUND on the outside, too.  We are "slightly" better overall at this point in the season compared to last year but we're still a long way from being a contender.  I think Carthage and Newton are gonna EXPOSE us if we don't get those things fixed in a hurry.  As it has been for the last decade plus, we will likely lose any game where our opponent holds us under 40 points.  Now that is sad.  Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it will change anytime soon.

Just saying Van showed Gilmer they gotta lot work on defense and Carthage noone will test them until the playoffs.

True that.  So did Atlanta for that matter.  We gave up 41 to both.

I will say this, though.  I think Van is legit, and is going to surprise some people in the D of D.  They are fast and execute very well.  The only thing that keeps me from saying they get 2nd in that district is their lack of depth.

It's pains me too say this but I can see them getting 2nd . Kilgore and Henderson are not playing as well as I thought. I just want to avoid the 4th spot Mithlothian heritage is in Bi District most likely.

Believe me, I also think they are the 2nd best team in that district, especially at this point in the season.  They do have some depth issues, however.  It looked to me like they only had about 35-37 players on their varsity.  They get wore down defensively at times.
