jimmyw
looking at the film reminds me of the New Orleans Saints when they were putting bounties on different people. i seen two kids that were targeted ,bad program teaching kids to target people for whatever reason. bigj
I have seen so much worse.. We are definitely getting soft now days. I'm seen multiple players through out my life done like this. Unreal late hits. Punches thrown. Peoples kick low blows. Face mask step on multiple times until the helmet comes off. I'm seen a guy kick a helmet off. We definitely are getting soft in 2018. Coach0001
I disagree about filing charges that's a slippery slope on in-game issues. I do feel that longer suspension is warranted at least 3-5 games. Second Coach Tusa has always been a class act I have only met him once but have always heard good things about him. That being said he needs to go back and consider that statement! I have always felt yes the ISD you work for is of course your primary concern. But as a educator you have responsibility to all students and concern for their safety and well being.

mrclean69
Not surprising. University as a whole is trash.
TheLionWire
If I am the parent of the kid who was choked and given a concussion I do the following: 1. I address the statement that the coach from University High made and tell everyone that his attitude is EVERYTHING that is wrong with the world and that coaches like that should not leading young men. 2. Unless the UIL punishes this kid to my satisfaction, like a minimum 5 game suspension and a public apology, I will file charges, both criminal and civil. I will find the nastiest attorney in my area who will be a total junkyard dog on this and I will put pressure on my District attorney to convene a grand jury and I would get it because the assault happened in my DA's jurisdiction. 3. The Medical bills, which this kids family has to pay (according to his Mom, he has been to the Concussion Specialist Doc 3 times), will be paid by Waco ISD. If not, I go after them in civil action for the bills AND punitive damages/legal fees. The Days of "Boys will be boys" are OVER. That is an open ended justification for violence that does not belong on any field, gym, or athletic venue.

Should a greater suspension be placed on this player? From what I read the other player was given a concussion from the impact of his helmet hitting the ground. Reports claim that there was more that actually took place earlier in the game...kicking him in the nuts might've been defense/retaliation from what happened prior to this video. AtlantaFan04
In one of the videos looks like one of the refs is standing there just watching it unfold. I know they can't see everything but how do you not spot any of this happening? Especially with them lasting several seconds each.

Timboslice79
Kid should be kicked off of the team period. It’s not even an argument.

If that wouldn't have happened then I would disagree. His suspension is fine by me for the first hit. I don't understand why he took the kid down when he was trying to block him though, because you want to fight through that to get to the returner. Something about holding athletes to high standards not condoning bad behavior? Sure looks like it. Coach needs to get control of his players. That looks like there is bad blood between both teams, because both were doing similar things, and it looks like it boiled over to the last incident. Just saying if it were my child only God could protect the other kids father. JBizzle
I also like the idea of having to miss more time than the person you hurt in a situation like this. If he misses 3 games for a concussion, you miss the same 3 plus one more.
