Jacksonville is coming off a thrilling last second win over Pine Tree to keep themselves in the thick of the playoff chase.   Possibly derailing PT’s first shot at at district championship since 1999.

Marshall built a 54-14 lead against MP with 7:57 left in the third quarter.  The Mav bench players struggled against MP, surrendering 28 unanswered points for a 54-35 final.

It was Marshall’s 14th consecutive district win dating back to  2015.

It was also their 596th program victory, inching them closer to the 600 club.

QB JJ green had seven touchdown passes in his 2.25 quarters of work....  going to five different wide receivers.   He had 291 yards through the air

Mavs finished with 569 yards.

—————————-

The task gets no easier this week as the Mavs host a fired up Jacksonville team.   Their win over PT proves they are not to be taken lightly

This is their first meeting since 2013 and their first district match against one another since 2011.

—————————-

A Jax win would catapult the Indians into the district title race after an 0-2 start.  It would make the final weeks of district play one for the ages.

A Marshall win keeps the Mavs on a collision course with Whitehouse for a possible district championship.

Big game.

More stats and history coming.

But this can get the chat started!

Can’t confirm yet. But I think that’s an MHS record.

And he sat down with over 7 mins left in the 3Q.

If Dennis Parker had been here.... he mighta had 12. Lmao.

Was a great 2.5 quarters of play.

But that last 19 mins was horrid.  Mavs clearly lack depth on the bench.  Outscored 21-0 in the 4Q.

But 3-0 is 3-0. And we will take it!!

Tougher test this week.

rofl. That was never going to happen, just like Marshall won't be tested until the first or second round.

Mavs just too good for the district, as I said last week.

Really hope Jacksonville gets back to a competitive level. Always enjoyed their program, for whatever reason.

Matt,  why arent you doing the weekly interviews with coach coleman and posting them on here this year?

Being lazy 🙄 sorry should be doing that but sometimes the show isn’t released until late Thursday or Friday.... and I just get busy. You can find it on YouTube under JHS Media or on Facebook

Interesting district facts:

Mavs have one 14 consecutive district games.  Their record is 18 in a row 1987-1990.  (District three-peat 88-90).  That means we can only tie the record this season IF we win out.  We can potentially break it next fall when we host Lindale.

24-5 in district play since 2014.  3 of those 5 losses were to Texas High.  One to Hallsville, one to Longview.

Been a great run.  Only one thing has been missing:

(3-4) playoff record since 2014.  Outside of 2015's region semis.... been kinda dry.

Ready to see us take the next step!!!!

But first..... we got to take Jacksonville seriously.  Very seriously.

Best Maverick team in history according to most.

Better than 89 semis team and the 1990 state championship team.

Hard to say about the two semifinal teams in the 20s.  No one left to talk about them.

And sadly the 2004 and 2005 state finalists teams are generally placed below all of them.
