You put Al Gore back in the old western days, he’d be the guy pulling up in the wagon selling elixir to cure everything.  He’s a genuine, one hundred percent Flim Flam man ( and if you don’t know what that is, watch the 1967 movie “The Flim-Flam Man” with George C. Scott).

I just got back from a cruise to Alaska and went and seen the glaciers, I don't know if Al knows this or not but glaciers for the most part are receding, that is what they do and have been doing since the ice age.

My wife's sister and their family just got back from their Alaska cruise too ... probably the same one ...

There is a couple of cruises you can take one leaves out of Seattle and the other Vancouver, we left out of Seattle

Yep, from one of my favorite movies :

I wish it would have included them being tarred and feathered at the end of the scene carried out on poles/branches.

Scientists Discover Volcano Underneath Libs Favorite Melting Antarctic Glacier

The fastest-melting glacier in the South Pole is still melting. But it is not just because of the global warming reasons that have been previously cited.

Another possible explanation for why this giant ice stream in western Antarctica is collapsing is that there just happens to be a source of volcanic heat beneath the Pine Island Glacier.

Oops.

A group of scientists from the University of Rhode Island discovered the noble gas Helium-3, indicating a volcanic heat source, underneath the Pine Island Glacier, according to The Daily Caller.

“When you find helium-3, it’s like a fingerprint for volcanism. We found that it is relatively abundant in the seawater at the Pine Island shelf,” chemical oceanographer Brice Loose said in a statement.

“The volcanic heat sources were found beneath the fastest moving and the fastest melting glacier in Antarctica, the Pine Island Glacier. It is losing mass the fastest.”

However, the scientists said in their study that this does not mean that volcanism is the main source of mass loss on the glacier. The volcanic heat source is just another factor to consider with ice sheet stability.

“The discovery of volcanoes beneath the Antarctic ice sheet means that there is an additional source of heat to melt the ice, lubricate its passage toward the sea, and add to the melting from warm ocean waters. It will be important to include this in our efforts to estimate whether the Antarctic ice sheet might become unstable and further increase sea level rise,” Professor Karen Heywood from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, U.K., said.

But Loose insists that climate change is still the main factor: “Climate change is causing the bulk of glacial melt that we observe, and this newly discovered source of heat is having an as-yet-undetermined effect, because we do not know how this heat is distributed beneath the ice shee

In a 2016 study, the British Antarctic Survey found that the Pine Island Glacier actually began warming in the 1940s during El Niño activity. And even when the global average surface temperature cooled, the glacier continued to melt.

“A significant implication of our findings is that once an ice sheet retreat is set in motion it can continue for decades, even if what started gets no worse,” NASA’s Bob Bindschadler said after observing data that showed 1944 was the warmest year on record until 1980.

Last month, a study found that the rate of the melting ice in the Antarctic has increased recently, “but critics said that work did not take into account modeling errors of the movement of the Earth beneath the ice sheets,” The Daily Caller reported.

Although scientists seem to agree about the melting of West Antarctica, NASA glaciologist Jay Zwally said that “East Antarctica is still gaining mass. That’s where we disagree.”

No matter what, there seems to be a lot of different accounts of why these glaciers are melting — more than just the typical global warming narrative.

If there is a volcano sitting underneath the Pine Island Glacier, I wonder how many other forces could be unknown contributing factors to the melting glaciers.

The thing is that glacier freezes back up in the summer, and is probably why that volcano has never erupted that we know of since we've only been in Antarctica with permanent stations since 1978.  There were many expeditions since 1901, but none that established permanent camps there.  There is still a lot we have to learn about Antarctica.

Dave, try not to post things that makes sense.  It confuses the liberals.

What's sort of odd is Antarctica has many volcanoes, but they only know of one that has actually erupted above the ice.  When ?  18,000 years ago which is a guess in my opinion.  There is no possible way to know exactly if it happened then.  Antarctica will be there for a very long time, unlike what the liberals and global warming believers want us to believe.  http://theconversation.com/what-if-antarcticas-dormant-ice-covered-volcanoes-wake-up-83450

I know the Cypress Creek area always floods as does the low lying area on 59.  I suppose the nurse hasn't been reading the papers, but much of the "pollution" that is going on is from the Sahara Desert which is what causes the hurricane's to begin with.  It was so bad around the 4th of July that Houston looked like L.A. with all of it's smog.  We had another episode that was heavy in early August.  It's still been around all summer.  I can deal with the coughing and the runny nose as long as scientists are correct with this :  http://www.foxnews.com/science/2018/07/09/how-african-dust-is-subduing-us-hurricanes.html .  I think they should dredge many of the bayous and creeks better.  Thank goodness my area is relatively new so our sewer pipes aren't as clogged as many of the older neighborhoods.  Many of which have trash, lawn clippings, leaves, oil from changes, by it's own residents that live there.  They are as much to blame as the city.  I also think that many times city officials okay certain areas to be developed by home builders based on their 100 year storm analysis.  Well, guess what our 100 year storms have hit the last three of four years.  We had 6 inches of rain on July 4th also, but it only flooded in certain areas.

Liberal tree huggers have ignored the facts for years, choosing instead to promote a false narrative that supports their Global Welfare money transfer scheme ... The lack of factual scientific evidence to support their "global warming" claim is laughable ... Millions of dumbed down gullible people have swallowed their :BS: .... :bait:hook, line and sinker ....

But, but Global Warming, Global Warming.  Why do they only talk about that during the summer, but when winter is coming they scream sun spots, sun spots, sun spots.  Give me a break.  There's no such thing as global warming, we've had hurricanes in the past, we've had bad storms, we've had cold weather and hot weather.  We've had years of abundance, and years of drought.  This is life on earth, get used to it and shut up.  If your home floods move, if your house is on fire move.  The L.A. fires have been happening for ages.  Look up New England's Dark Day on May 19, 1780.  Even Jim Morrison sang about the fires in L.A. back in the 60's  :
