Not sure Harleton has many that fit into any of the 4 categories and pretty sure none that check all 4 boxes. When you say not much interest, what are you basing that on? Do you have a number of applicants? A list of applicants? Are just let the coach do what is necessary to make the athletes bigger, stronger and faster, but somebodies mom, step-mom, dad, step dad dontbwantbhier baby to feel tired or the closet community homosexual who wants one act play and band to be the most important school event will fight against that. BEARDEDGOAT
If there was a way to know for sure they were getting out of that district after next yer it would be more attractive....If there was a way to get a life time supply of FUGLER'S BUBBA BURGER in the contract you would have to beat them off with a stick!

ViewFromAfar
I think Harleton is like most other small schools (not all) that is stuck in between good district programs. They will get the guy looking for his first head coaching job or the guy looking to retire at a no pressure to perform school. Its tough being in that type of situation. I understand the stability part of everything but what is so wrong with giving that young guy his first head coaching job. It's worked out for Cooper many times. Sometimes that is the spark that the program needs gets the kids excited to play football again.

DOB
There's no doubt in my mind that stability and consistency is a major part of the Success Equation. The problem is that you must chose the RIGHT MAN before you put pencil to paper to solve that equation. Otherwise, the +'s in your equation can quickly change to -'s. It's a PEOPLE business ... and anything that involves people is inherently complicated.

Even though most people in the Business world will tell you the Company works much better when everybody is on the same page and working as a TEAM for the same goal, that is usually not the case. Ambition is the prime motivator in the Business world and it usually ends up with the employees looking out for themselves and trying to climb the ladder. The problem with this happening in Education is, the KIDS suffer. And the TEAM suffers and that is not good for anybody.

DOB
The first two things an upper-level administrator learns to is: 1.) How to find ways to justify their job title 2.) Climbing the Cooperate Ladder. What they all fail to realize is this is PUBLIC EDUCATION. And, this is the future of this State and the Country that we are supposed to be preparing to be productive members of Society. Whatever happened to doing what is right by the kids? Whatever happened to just doing your dang job? And what is so wrong about hiring good people, and then getting the heck out of the way and letting them do their jobs? Micromanagement wears me the heck out.
DOB
The hardest thing for campus-based personnel to learn or understand is that when you walk across the parking lot and into the Central Office the primary focus changes from teaching and learning to compliance and financing. The quickest way for the Sup to get fired is for his habit of spending money ... ET districts have already had the notorious reputation for adhering to the policy of "STACK 'EM DEEP and TEACH 'em CHEAP". 1 hour ago, playactionpass39 said: And what is so wrong about hiring good people, and then getting the heck out of the way and letting them do their jobs?
