State Championship Games at Jerryworld

This is my take on the situation:

The Wednesday through Saturday scheduling of the games works in the order that they are presently in.  Everything revolves about generation of revenue (ROI).  Having the schools play in a graduating order allows for the maximum amount of people to attend per event.  Having fans not being able to attend on Wednesday and/or Thursday for the small school games is relatively small compared to the amount that would not be able to attend should the large schools play earlier in the week as that would have a greater impact on a larger population.  Fox Sports, and I would even say the UIL, are trying to make money while still making it as special as can be.  I would hazard to guess that the whole operation is in the red on Wednesday and Thursday.

Jerry and the AT&T Stadium do it right.  I would also opine that the vast majority of players would prefer to play in Dallas versus NRG or in San Antonio.

If it was in Houston every year. East texas and north texas people would be crying it's not fair. I think they should try the rotation and see how it goes, dosen't hurt to try it. Or back to the old way let the teams pick the neutral site

Lower the concession stand prices from NFL price to High School price.

I had a good time but, this is true their concession stand prices were a lil pricey... oh and free parking... $30 for two tickets is good enough

Less recorded music and more from the school bands. They've worked all year to support their team too.

Could not care any less about the bands.  Unfortunately have to endure them for 28 minutes every week with some of the most ridiculous performances imaginable.  Whatever happened to good old fashioned military style marching bands instead of all the show bands or whatever they're called.  Can't stand all the leaning side-to-side and having band members trying to even dance.  Silly.

It's mostly all positives.  The only complaint is the seating.  You go to the games and there is a good chance you have to sit outside the 10 or in the end zone.

OPEN THE MIDDLE SECTION OF THE THIRD DECK FOR THE 4A AND BELOW GAMES.

You can buy a drink for $7.50, but get $2.00 refills.  $10 all-you-can-eat popcorn is not too bad.

As they're slowly winding down, what do you think would make the state championship games more enjoyable for fans to watch it?

My suggestion, if it stays at Jerry World, is to allow the sale of alcohol.

I take it that you did not enjoy the OTHER 15 games!! Js

I agree with the poster who said Jerry needs the money. Sure, he's a multibillionaire based on the inflated valuation of his pro football franchise, but he had to borrow a lot of money to build that palace for it and he considers that he is doing high school football fans a favor by allowing it to be used in this manner. And the value of the sports league in which his franchise plays has been under constant attack from the President on Twitter until fairly recently. That was a wild card none of the NFL execs had foreseen in their business plans.

Moreover,  having finally achieved sobriety nearly 20 years ago myself, I implore all football fans who are of an alcoholic bent to stay at home to watch football, given that there is almost always an HDTV alternative way of viewing any big game nowadays.

The life you save may be your own. Of course,  you still may die of alcohol-related ailments later on, but at least you won't be taking others to eternity with you in the vehicular suicide/homicide in which you're involved.

On  edit, I have changed my mind as I think to myself "WWJD" (What Would Jerry Do) to make even more money.  Have everyone who wants to drink at the championship games go to a special "drinking zone" of the stadium to be seated and catered to with the alcoholic beverages of their choice (since we are at Jerry World, you have to pay Jerry prices; sorry, but you knew that going in). Once the game is over and you are attempting to leave the premises, you will be further charged for the cost of the Uber ride to your home or hotel or whatever. Your keys to the vehicle in which you arrived will be returned to you once it has been determined you are again sober enough to drive.

This is number 1! Open the third deck immediately!

Get rid of the bands and make halftime 15 minutes.  Nobody goes to a band competition to expecting to see a football demo in the middle.  Most hardcore football fans don't want to see a band performing for 30 minutes in the middle of what they actually came to see.  Bands should perform at band competitions and just keep them off the field at games.  Especially irritating is when they exceed their time allocation.

Amen.    The music is great in stadiums.    At halftime people ar chatting and getting food and drinks.   Except for the few band parents that attend the finals to watch the halftime show.

Alcohol at high school football games.  That is certainly wholesome.

Somehow/someway - have certain sections reserved for the fans of each team.......the bigger the school, the more sections reserved........you have to have a certain color/type ticket to sit in those sections........ if caught sitting there without the specific ticket, you are escorted out and have to pay again to get back inside.

Why

I like this idea, though it has improved over the years.  They used to be bad about completely drowning out the bands, and still do to some extent.

Band is part of football.  The band worked hard and supported the team all year, those kids deserve to do their thing in Jerry World too.  This is not the NFL, a league that could go broke for all I care and I certainly would not miss them.

Bottled water prices 😱 $5 a bottle. It's water! Lol. I think the price of admission was fine and parking was fine. You get to go all day. No alcohol, it's a high school event. I will say have better info on how the seating is done at the end/beginning of the game for the lower sections for people's first time at these events.

I really don't how you can improve the experience more than it already is. A great change was playing 3 games on Saturday instead of 4. You now don't have games ending at 1:00AM. I always laugh at the folks who think they are going to reserve seats for school fans at the championship games. Most of those 50k folks in Jerryworld are casual fans. The hardcore fans show up at the start of the first game and jockey themselves to a great seat. Every year I see near fist fights because folk try to reserve 10+ seats for family and friends. These folks think it's okay to show up 5 minutes to kickoff and get a seat at the 50 yard line. One lady at the Duncanville game tried to reserve 2 entire rows and cussed out the security guard when he told her she could not this. She seem to lack understanding on what general admission means. One lady ask me to move down to the next row because she was trying to reserve 8 seats. I just gave her the biggest go to hell look you can imagine.
