What quality defensive coordinators are going to

1) Convince to come to the Big 12 where DCs go to chewed up and spit out.

and

2) Jump on a likely sinking ship for maybe just one season.

UT should've fired Herman, kept Orlando, and money-whipped Urban.

Before the season you OU guys went on about Alex Grinch and how good a hire he was.  Was he not considered quality after all?  He came to the Big12

i understand part 2. That makes a lot more sense than #1.

Fwiw, I think Orlando is better than Grinch. I hope we hire Orlando as an "analyst" or something.

Reason for letting go of Orlando

Hearsay, and I would say Herman is guilty of all three points as well.

EDIT: Check that...  Herman is a good recruiter. Not that you have to be at UT, but his record (as a recruiter) speaks for itself.

Just the messenger, we'll see if the right moves were made in year. Lol

Lol, I hear you. Obviously I have nothing to gain from UT choosing well, but I really feel like Herman just isn't a good fit at UT.

Early reports are Graham Harrell is interested in the OC job.

He originally declined USC to stay at North Texas. Once they backed the brink truck up and tripled his salary, he decided to go. I think he would be a good hire for UT long term, but I don't know how well Sam would do in the offense.

Utah DE Van Fillingher decommited from Texas tonight.

Recruiting will take bit of a hit I assume but the coaching changes needed to be made even if it means losing a few recruits.

Great idea. Keep it as inconsistent as possible. It will eventually work out amirite lol.

Orlando got Herman the Texas job. Then he fired him.  Who would work for that guy after what he did to His Houston staff then Orlando. Money is not everything, and I’m sure it will be tough sledding for him to find quality coaches who aren’t coordinators.

Orlando orchestrated the worst defenses in Texas’ history.  He was 105th this year
