FACTS AND TRUTH! People keep saying Tyler needs one high school lol. Tyler isd would lose even more students to the private school system if they did that, because a lot of kids would not be able to participate in extracurricular activities because of mass logjam. You would have well over 300 plus football players, but many kids would not see the field. The teams would be top notch in the beginning, but slowly you would see a talent drain.

facts in terms of sports to....also TISD invested tons of money into new schools and they have rezoned. I'm pretty sure part of this was done to get back the students lost to privates and charters and attract new students .  And it looks like its working.  You combined the two high schools, those students are out.  There is also this belief around Tyler that JT is a bad school, you really think if they combine schools, lots of Lee parents aren't pulling their kids.  Tyler isn't ready for one school yet. Maybe 30-40 yrs from now, but honestly it will probably never happen due to size of city.

TRUE! JT is not a bad school, but JT does have a PERCEPTION of that. JT has been a CONSISTENT school on test scores a decade now.

People has said JT was a bad school back in the 90’s and early 2000s. Then things got worse when that teacher lost his life to the hands of a special needs student. That came from New Orleans.

i think it could benefit the district but tyler would never really be ready because of the preconceived notions about JT

Whitehouse ISD lines are inside TYler city limits, and a bunch of apartments just a few blocks from Lee are in their district. WHitehouse buses pull into the apartments on one side of paluxy, and TISD buses pull in on the other side.

Shiloh Road and paluxy are the cutoff lines for Whitehouse. Chapel hill’s isd comes into Tyler also. So does Lindale and Van and Winona

I would totally agree with the private school issue in Tyler killing Lee's athletics (football and others that I am uniquely aware of from recruiting). it is a unique town, in that it has a very high % of "talent" leaving for the private school/academy, for this northeast Texas "smaller town thought" (under a million metroplex - 5 public schools).

exactly...you never see that kind of thing. nothing like that in Longview or Texarkana or Lufkin/Nac combined...until you get to Austin area and then bang, you hit a million people and you have the wash of all the fancy academies (live on), etc.

So without all the private schools lee might have a chance? Why does Tyler allow all these private schools?

Uh, exactly how would they stop them?

The U.S. Constitution...  it's a thing.

There's maybe 3 kids at all 5 of those schools combined that would step on the field for Lee. Get real, ain't nobody leaving Lee for greener private pastures. Leaving because they want to win at Whitehouse or JT.

The boundaries that are in Tyler next to Lee going to Whitehouse is just crazy.
