2019 Marshall Maverick Thread

Great news above!

Not to mention the tennis center and track upgrades!

Also.....

Construction for  Project 1 of the Legacy Campaign will be started ASAP. Crazy how fast they got the money raised for such a big project!

Moving on to project 2, which will turf the softball and baseball fields.

Then on to project 3... which is the covered all purpose practice field.

So stinking proud of this program and community.  They continue to block out the mindless chatter out there.

Heard from a reliable source that it sounds like Killeen Ellison is back in.

For what it's worth, the 2019 football schedule was posted by Killeen ISD.

https://www.killeenisd.org/WebData/DocumentViewer/Varsity_FB_Schedule_2019.pdf

Has Ellison facing Crowley for their scrimmage in Waco.

Ill update this pic this summer to include the new press box, the new track, and the upgrades to the entrance wall.

Just passing time for 91 days I suppose!

Mavs went 2-1 tonight in the opening night of 7 on 7 league play down in Carthage.

Lost to Carthage in the first game.  Beat Shreveport Byrd in the 2nd game and then beat Evangel 24-20 in the final game.

Ill see about getting the other 2 scores.

Games will be in Marshall next Tuesday.  They may be on the practice fields instead of the stadium.  Depends if work has started for the track replacement yet or not.

Good night for the Mavs.  See y’all next week.

Mavchamp,

How did the Carthage QB look in the 7 on 7

I was getting updates. I wasn’t able to go.  Was told Carthage’s starter wasn’t there. It was a back up.

Going to try and make it next week in Marshall.

It’s always nice to get accolades, but we have a lot to prove we are worthy.

Rankings mean zero in June. Or November for that matter.

We have a lot coming back. But we have holes to fill too.

Most of our coaching staff is intact.... which is huge.

Cant wait for this season.

Mavchamp, is the indoor going to look like the one Coach Warner posted of South Alabama’s?

TBH.... I don’t think any plans have been drawn up as of now.

But they have similar facilities at UAB and Southern Alabama too I believe.

Interesting idea with the pavilion indoor. Not something I've really seen. How many yards will it be? Is it a lot cheaper than enclosing it?

It’s covered only... not enclosed and not central air/heat.  I’m assuming there will be large fans for ventilation.

And yes.... it’s a fraction of the cost from what I hear.  I think they are expecting $1.5M for what we’ve seen at similar facilities.

They raised the $300K+ for project 1 of the Legacy Program in about 3 months.

It will be interesting to see if they get the money to turf the softball and baseball fields in time for next season.

But the pavilion will be a jewel.  Athletics, band, drill team, ROTC, social events.... will be a huge addition for community.

But anyways. Ready for some football.
