wtlobos
Maybe Trout will sign there in the future? 🤷♂ Seems like he could have had a better deal. Shorter term and more annual value then sign another huge deal in his early 30’s. Guess not.
DaveTV1
I don't know why they're paying these average players with one great year this kind of money. Both Machado and Harper bat under 300, and have never hit more than 50 home runs. Harper has had one season that he had 100 rbi's and that was last year the same with Machado who had 107. This is simply driving up salaries. I know that Harper was an instant sensation when he came to the league, but he's been average for the majority of his career except for his MVP season. It's only going to make it harder to sign players with better numbers, and I think we'll see a $40 million a year contract in the next 3-5 seasons. Stoney
No opt outs. That’s the bigger shock to me. Word is couple teams would have went higher than $330 or even talked $45m per year on a 3 year deal. Crazy numbers. Folks say baseball is dying but look at the money. Somehow, some way it’s there to pay these guys.
wtlobos
Maybe the Phils will have room under the luxury tax to rebuild around him and win a ring or two.
