Thought you might enjoy this interesting

prayer given in Kansas at

the opening session of their Senate. It seems

prayer still upsets some

people. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open

the new session of the

Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual

generalities, but this is

what they heard:

'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask

your forgiveness and to seek your direction and

guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those

who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we

have done.

We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.

We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.

We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare

We have killed our unborn and called it choice.

We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem.

We have abused power and called it politics.

We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.

We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.

Β

We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.

Amen!'

Β

The response was immediate. A number of

legislators walked out during the prayer in

protest. In 6 short weeks, Central Christian

Church, where Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than

5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls

responding negatively. The church is now receiving

international requests for copies of this prayer

from India, Africa and Korea .

Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on

his radio program, 'The Rest of the Story,'and

received a larger response to this program than any

other he has ever aired.

Β

With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep

over our nation and wholeheartedly become our

desire so that we again can be called 'one nation

under God.'

If possible, please pass this prayer on to

your friends. 'If you don't stand for something,

you will fall for everything.'

Β

Think about this: If you forward this

prayer to everyone on your

e-mail list, in less than 30 days it would be

heard by the world.

How many people in your address book will

not receive this prayer.....do you have the guts to pass it on?

He actually gave this prayer quite a few years ago and caught a lot of flack over it. If we had more people with guts like this, we might not find ourselves in the mess we're in now.

This might strike a few nerves with some people, but as a christian man, i can say that i believe we are getting exactly what we deserve as a country and people deserve. God is love, holy and just in his ways. We as a nation and wolrd for that matter have perverted Gods word and his ways so bad that we should all fall to our knees and repent this very moment. Im not trying to make people upset, but we have fallen so short of Gods will. Think of it this way if your were God what would you do.

Β

I realize some of you folks are not Christian this is not an attack on anybody. This is also not a debate over God!

"If my people, who are called by my name , will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive them of their sin and will heal their land." II Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)

That is what we as Christians need to be doing for America. For too long it is not what has been going on in Congress or the White House, but what is NOT going on in the church houses across this nation. If the church would be doing what it is supposed to do, then Washington would'nt have to! We as Christians have been silent too long, it is time for God's people to start acting like God's people. we need to act like we are the winners, because the Bible says that in the END, WE WIN!

Good stuff pitt75. To get a complete contextual idea of that verse, please allow me to offer this:

Β

13 "When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 16 I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there. II Chron. 7:13-16

Good stuff guys. I agree that we as Christians all need to band together and really start seeking Gods will for our lives, but also this country and world. I did not vote for Obama, but he is the president and God put him in power for a reason and i will respect him and pray for him and our fellow country men that we all will seek Gods will and give up our own desires. God wants to prosper us not hurt us and like a good parent we can expect to get into trouble by God. So fellow country men brothers and sisters lets start praying and supporting our leaders and by praying i dont mean what you desire or want to happen, but what God wants to happen because it is for our own good.

Regardless of who you voted for Obama or McCain, we need to put aside our political differences and pray for our next President, because he is going to need them. Contrary to what some say, it was God that allowed Barack Obama to become the 44th President of the United States. Whether that will be good or bad thing who knows, whatever happens will be a part of God's plan. Because HE is GOD and were not! And God does not change.

Paul Harvey, β€˜Familiar Voice’ for Six Decades, Dead at Age 90

Β

By Nancy Kercheval

Β

March 1 (Bloomberg) -- Paul Harvey, a familiar radio voice for six decades who used long pauses to punctuate his delivery of news and observations, died yesterday in Phoenix. He was 90.

Β

Harvey’s death was announced in a statement by ABC Radio Networks, which began airing his β€œNews and Comment” coast to coast in 1951 after he impressed executives with high ratings at affiliate WENR-AM in Chicago, where he’d worked since 1944.

Β

β€œPaul was a friendly and familiar voice in the lives of millions of Americans,” former President George W. Bush said in a statement.

Β

Harvey died in a Phoenix area hospital with his family by his side, said Louis Adams, a spokesman for ABC Radio. The broadcaster lived in Chicago during the summer and moved his production to Arizona in the winter months.

Β

β€œMy father and mother created from thin air what one day became radio and television news,” son Paul Harvey Jr. said in a statement on his father’s Web site. β€œSo in the past year, an industry has lost its godparents and today millions have lost a friend.”

Β

Harvey’s wife Lynne, always referred to as β€œAngel” by the broadcaster, produced his shows until she died in May.

Β

Rising at 3:30 a.m., Harvey would arrive early at his office and studio to check overnight wire-service stories. A staff of six helped cull small-town newspapers and readers’ suggestions for more material for β€œNews and Comment” segments that aired six days a week.

Β

β€˜Call Out to Anybody’

Β

Harvey’s plain language and distinctive pauses were highly effective. He also managed to convey a sense of fresh wonder.

Β

β€œLet me say I can’t wait to get up every morning and watch the passing parade and call out to anybody who might be interested in the things that interest me,” he told the Chicago Tribune.

Β

At age 82, Harvey was still so productive that ABC Radio signed him to a 10-year contract valued at $100 million in November 2000. More than 1,200 radio stations and 400 Armed Forces Network stations aired his broadcasts, according to ABC.

Β

β€œAs he delivered the news each day with his own unique style and commentary, his voice became a trusted friend in American households,” Jim Robinson, president of ABC Radio Networks, said in the statement. β€œHis career in radio spanned more than seven decades, during which time countless millions of listeners were both informed and entertained by his β€˜News & Comment’ and β€˜Rest of the Story’ features.”

Β

Popular With Advertisers

Β

His conservative views and sincerity made him popular with advertisers. Highly selective, Harvey required one-year commitments from program sponsors and only promoted products he and his wife used. He wrote the ad copy and read it with conviction. Bankers Life & Casualty was a sponsor for 30 years; Bose Corp. was another favorite.

Β

Paul Harvey Aurandt was born September 4, 1918, to Harry Harrison and Anna Dagmar (Christensen) Aurandt in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His father, a police officer, was killed when Harvey was three.

Β

Harvey’s career was launched in 1933 when a speech teacher at Tulsa’s Central High School recognized his potential. She escorted the 14-year-old to local station KVOO-AM and told the station manager β€œThis boy needs to be in radio,” the Tulsa World recounted in a 1997 article.

Β

Harvey worked as an announcer, then as program director at KVOO-AM, according to the biography on his Web site.

Β

He spent three years as a station manager in Salina, Kansas, followed by a stint as a newscaster in Oklahoma City. He then landed at WXOK-AM in St. Louis, working as a reporter and director of special events. In 1939, he met his future wife at the station.

Β

β€˜Angel’s’ Advice

Β

After marriage, Harvey worked as a reporter in Hawaii and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps after Pearl Harbor. Discharged in 1944, he moved to Chicago at his wife’s urging.

Β

β€œSince the first day of our marriage, we’ve worked side by side,” Harvey told the Chicago Tribune in 2002. Indeed, in 1997 his wife was the first producer inducted in the Hall of Fame of the Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago.

Β

According to the Chicago Tribune, his wife changed Harvey’s conservative views on the Equal Rights Amendment and the Vietnam War, leading up to his broadcast of May 1, 1970, when he addressed President Richard Nixon, saying, β€œI love you, Mr. President. But you’re wrong.”

I think we all knew this day was coming. Paul Harvey's voice was the best ever for radio. I think he could have made it on television as well. I'm going to miss him. When you listen to someone for 30 + years, they become like a part of the family. Paul Harvey, you will be missed, thank you for the stories and history lessons that you brought to the airwaves.

I remember listening to Paul Harvey news way back in the early/mid-sixties before the days of public kindergarten. I used to ride a bus out to a school in the country and the lady that drove the bus had Paul Harvey on every day. That was close to forty-five years ago. I've enjoyed listening ever since.

Β

I pray that Paul is enjoying... the rest of the story.
