I think it has more to do with their outlook on life, and not any type of entertainment or music. They're psyche is already in a fragile state of being, and they don't want to cope with reality or how hard life is anymore. I do think it's an easy way out of the pain they are going through. They simply don't understand that even when you have dark clouds over you, the sun always comes out to give you good days. It's impatience in my opinion.
