The Trump Administration Now Wants to Deport Children With Cancer

In August alone, the Trump administration laid out plans to make it more difficult for legal immigrants to use social services, eliminate limits on how long families can be detained at the border, and stop providing flu vaccines to migrants held in border detention facilitiesThe administration was proud enough of these efforts to announce them publicly, but there was one move so despicable that they apparently felt it would be best to roll it out quietly.

But there was one move so ugly that the Trump administration, apparently, felt it would be best to roll it out quietly. On August 7th, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) quietly eliminated a medical deferred action program that allowed severely ill undocumented immigrants and their families to remain in the United States to receive potentially lifesaving treatment. The decision to axe the policy was not announced publicly. Instead, families with pending applications were notified through letters from immigration officials informing them they have 33 days to leave the country or risk facing deportation. USCIS confirmed this week that it was ending the program.

“This is a new low,” Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) told the Associated Press, which reported the policy change on Sunday along with Boston’s NPR affiliate, WBUR. “Donald Trump is literally deporting kids with cancer.”

Cancer is only one of the conditions for which an undocumented immigrant or their family typically request deferred action. Others include HIV, cerebral palsy, leukemia, muscular dystrophy, and epilepsy. The USCIS has said that is receives around 1,000 deferred action requests per year.

One such request highlighted by the AP is that of Mariela Sanchez, a Honduran woman who applied for deferred action so her 16-year-old son Jonathan could be treated for cystic fibrosis. Sanchez brought her family to America to seek care for Jonathan after her daughter died in Honduras of the same condition. “He would be dead,” if they had remained in Honduras, she told the AP of her son. “I have panic attacks over this every day.”

USCIS has told media outlets that Sanchez and other deferred action applicants can now bring their cases to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). But not only was this option was not outlined in the letters received by families, an ICE official told ABC News and other outlets that the agency was not aware of the policy change until it was reported in the press, and that no process in place to accept deferred action applications.

“They’re lying,” Anthony Marino of the Irish International Immigrant Center, which represents several families in Boston who received notices, told Rolling Stone of the USCIS’s claim that ICE can now handle the requests. “These cases were being denied … They didn’t want to own that they were eliminating a program that protected children with cancer from being torn from hospital beds and being deported. They didn’t want to own that. They’re response is to just lie about it rather than not do it.”

Marino is currently looking into what kind of litigation the Irish International Immigrant Center may be able to pursue on behalf of its clients, but the prevailing emotion in the conversations his office has had with the affected families has been helplessness. “It’s been a lot of very difficult phone calls, a lot of very difficult conversations,” he says. “We don’t really have good advice to give people when the government tells you you have to take your child off the treatment that keeps them alive and leave the country. I’m still at a loss to grapple with this. There’s a lot of crying and desperation and fear.”

In some cases, the sick child is an American citizen but the rest of the family is not, putting the undocumented parents who applied to be with their child as they receive care in a heart-wrenching predicament.

“I wish for my clients sake that I had a good answer for them as to whether they should orphan their child in the hopes that they may live longer,” Marino says. “That’s what’s just so mind-blowing about the whole thing. Those are conversations that are happening—”

He pauses to take a deep, pained breath.

“I can’t answer that question for people.”

So full of hate and can you actually share facts not propaganda from the far left!

The spokesperson added that the policy is not ending, but will instead be handled through Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Children of US Troops Born Overseas Will No Longer Get Automatic American Citizenship

Task & Purpose | By Haley Britzky

Children born to U.S. service members and government employees overseas will no longer be automatically considered citizens of the United States, according to a policy alert issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on Wednesday.

Previously, children born to U.S. citizen parents were considered to be "residing in the United States," and therefore would be automatically given citizenship under Immigration and Nationality Act 320. Now, children born to U.S. service members and government employees, such as those born in U.S. military hospitals or diplomatic facilities, will not be considered as residing in the U.S., changing the way that they potentially receive citizenship.

According to USCIS, previous legislation also explicitly said that spouses of service members who were living outside the U.S. because of their spouses were considered as residing in the U.S., but "that no similar provision was included for children of U.S. armed forces members in the acquisition of citizenship context is significant."

That is one of the reasons why USCIS has now decided that those children are not considered to be residing in the U.S., and therefore will not be automatically given citizenship. Instead, they will fall under INA 322, which considers them to be residing outside the U.S. and requires them to apply for naturalization.

They will be allowed to complete all naturalization proceedings while living abroad, the new policy says.

"The policy change explains that we will not consider children who live abroad with their parents to be residing in the United States even if their parents are U.S. government employees or U.S. service members stationed outside of the United States and, as a result, these children will no longer be considered to have acquired citizenship automatically," USCIS spokesperson Meredith Parker told Task & Purpose.

"For them to obtain a Certificate of Citizenship, their U.S. citizen parent must apply for citizenship on their behalf."

The process under INA 322 must be completed before the child's 18th birthday.

While children of service members will be allowed to complete the citizenship process outside of the U.S., Parker added, children of government employees "must enter the U.S. lawfully with an immigrant or nonimmigrant visa and be in lawful status when they take the Oath of Allegiance."

You show your ignorance more and more daily.

What's True

New USCIS guidance regarding citizenship for children of U.S. service members and government employees will affect a relatively small number of cases involving non-U.S. citizen parents or adopted foreign-born children.

What's False

The new USCIS guidance does not eliminate ordinary birthright citizenship for children of U.S. service members and government employees who are born outside the U.S.

I guess some good could come out of this! https://www.theonion.com/amazon-deforestation-reveals-tribe-of-isolated-rich-soc-1837623801

Illustration for article titled Amazon Deforestation Reveals Tribe Of Isolated Rich Sociopaths Completely Untouched By Consequence
MANAUS, BRAZIL—Widespread human-caused fires that have decimated over 1,300 square miles of Amazon rainforest in the year 2019 alone revealed a small tribe of isolated rich sociopaths who are completely untouched by consequence, sources confirmed Tuesday. “As the impact of deforestation continues to grow, a team studying the area located a tiny society of wealthy agribusiness executives and financiers who have never before been visited by any ramifications for their actions,” said anthropologist Cameron Hunt, adding that researchers were working to assemble more information about this remote group of oppressors, but had managed to identify a few of them as Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman, AgroSB co-founder Daniel Dantas, and meat-processing magnate Joesley Batista as well as executives from JPMorgan Chase, Barclays, BNP Paribas, Credit Suisse, BlackRock, and State Street. “Although this uncontacted tribe of affluent sociopaths represents an important anthropological discovery, since we’ve never seen people with so little remorse or empathy, they have almost no connection to modern society and simply don’t understand our way of life, so eliminating rainforest cover could put them at risk. Of course, living in a totally isolated bubble means that they’ll fight back against any integration efforts, so we have to proceed with caution. It’s important to remember that while we may not yet understand their greedy and reckless lifestyle, it’s theirs, and they want to preserve it.” At press time, multiple world leaders and the International Monetary Fund had pledged to fund humanitarian efforts to ensure Amazon deforestation doesn’t affect the isolated tribe of sociopaths’ desire to continue living without repercussions.

While it is tragic that a child has cancer, no matter where he is from. But shouldn't there be a easy way for a family to get that kid to Memphis for child care? Isn't that where Danny Thomas opened up a hospital to take care of kids for free? So why would they have to come across the border ILLEGALLY to get a kid there? It just seems to me that some people do NOT respect any laws anymore. SMFH.

This post was NOT about a lack of effort on the part of the vast majority of the O and G industry to be safe or follow procedure, as it is profitable and it keeps their employees safe, and most companies are actually more about the environment than the current administration even wants them to be. It was about how Trump seeks out the path of least resistance, most damage possible, then plows forward to eradicate rules that are in place, that companies have already been following. WHY DOES HE DO THAT? I think we all know that he has fundamentally changed the conversation to not be about protecting the environment but maximizing profit as a first priority. He is the WORST POTUS ever in three short years to do with protecting the environment.

Breathe Barry, slowly, inhale, exhale. Because with hatred like that, you are in for a serious heart attack, sooner than later.

The United States should not be the World's Dr. or Policeman.  These illegals should not be given free healthcare at the expense of the citizens of the United States.  In essence they are a part of the reason for high insurance rates.  If any of us were to get sick in a foreign country especially Mexico, we would be held for ransom basically until the Medical bills were paid in full, even if our insurance in the States did not cover it in those countries while visiting there.

There are only Two things that are for Certain; Death & Taxes... Therefore, IF the kid’s parents came here illegally trying to get medical care for their child, sadly, they broke our laws & must return to the country they left. This country has a Twenty Trillion dollar deficit which will only get bigger if we take in everybody who is ill & cannot pay for their care.

Life ISN’T fair; we will All die one day. People making political pawns of dying children is a shame.

“I know who hit me, who assaulted me,” he told The Oregonian/OregonLive. “In any other city they would have been indicted."

My thoughts are that the liberal thugs in that area of the country or no different than white thugs where in the south when they beat black folks and those who did the beating where never indicted and if they was no jury would convict. There is no difference hate is hate.

If they were all fighting, then they all should have been arrested and had charges filed against them. But what would you expect out of Portland, Oregon. They allowed Antifa to put a guy in the hospital during a march he wasn't even protesting, just working in. Where were the police, they allow these actions to go on. It's going to happen here in Texas soon, and people are going to end up dead. I can guarantee that.

So you have no problem with the fact that the guy who got beat down was trying to start a fight?  What about the fact that he was someone who claimed that he was a vet and really wasn’t just so he could get his 15 minutes of fame?

He pushed the women after calling her some unsavory names. Therefore he started everything. He went in looking for a fight. He just couldn’t back it up and got his rear handed to him by a left wing snowflake.
