☭ Socialism is the 'new normal' for Democrats?

If this is their "new norm" I think it's going to bite them in the #### at the ballot box big time come the 2018 and 2020 elections, especially with independents and fence riders.  The dims are openly and unashamedly anti-Constitution, anti-border security, anti-national security and anti-American/pro-illegal alien .... how's that for a winning platform????? ...

I think this is a fascinating development, and I think this young lady will force the Dem leadership to pick a lane. We're going to see another revival of the internecine New Left battles from the '60s.

The older establishment quasi-moderates think they can just throw a bone to the radical anarchistic Left wingers with gay rights legislation, craven appeals to minority groups, and anti-Trump vitriol. Nope. They want power, and they're willing to tear it all down in order to take control.

I find it especially interesting that this year's DNC summer convention is being held in Chicago, almost 50 years to the day of the 1968 DNC Convention riots. What's the main topic of conversation? Superdelegates. Man oh man, it's gonna be awesome.

There is no such animal as a dimocrat moderate ... they don't exist .... the entire party has gone off the deep end ... the jig is up ... they don't even try to hide their ultra liberal agenda anymore .... the biased fake news liberal media is running interference for them too ...

Brainwashed libtards ... they think money for everything grows on trees ... they need some basic economics education ....

Student: "I love socialism! It's great!"

Interviewer: "What's socialism?"

Student: "Ummmm...."

I believe our high schools should teach basic economics, budgeting, personal financial responsibility .... give them basic knowledge how our economic system works and show them the failures of socialism .... teach them the basics of how to survive financially ... It should also be taught by parents ... My dad taught me and I taught my sons ....

Of course, the problem there Kirt is that you have teachers and administrators in a lot of schools that are for socialism and socialist policies.

It's like they don't understand where "the government" gets its money.

Makes me want to play this Ray Stevens song:

I have always said we should pay no more than 10% in taxes.  The federal government needs to tighten their belts and budgets and be forced to live within it's means like ordinary citizens.  It they can't run things on 10%, they need to cut back on spending like normal people ...

I would like to see a balanced budget amendment that also REQUIRES congress and the president pass and sign a budget every year, on time, with no exceptions .... no balanced budget, no paychecks for congress or the president ...

According to this article: https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/personalfinance/2016/11/24/average-american-household-income/93002252/

The "average" American household income was $73,298 in 2014.

Let's make some assumptions. Let's assume, for simplicity's sake, two people per household are working. That gives us $36,649 per working person, on average, annually.

Now let's assume 100 million people are in the workforce, making that dollar amount, on average. That gives us $3,664,900,000,000 (roughly $3.665 trillion dollars) in wages.

Ten percent of that is, of course, approximately $366.5 billion. That's just wages. If you look at the money corporations make...

If you take into account Wal-Mart makes about $14.7 billion per year...and assign them a 10% tax rate (again, assumptions), that's another $1.47 billion annually in tax revenue.

And according to this article: https://pjmedia.com/zombie/2012/7/18/the-ultimate-takedown-of-obamas-you-didnt-build-that-speech/

About 25% of our tax dollars go to "public benefit" programs, with the DoD getting the "lion's share" of the money.

If the govt. Didn't spend another dime.  It would take 13 years to pay off the national debt. That was a few years ago when that was reported.

I understand your sentiment on a balanced budget Amendment. I'll have to disagree with you a bit with the following:

If you require Congress to have a balanced budget (zeroed out at the end of the year, where $ in = $ out), doesn't that then give Congress carte blanche to just raise taxes whenever they feel like it, because they "need to" for whatever spending they want to do? How do you control for that?

I do like your idea, though, of Congress being mandated to pass a budget every year.

I start out with the premise that much of what congress does and spends money on is unconstitutional.  They have way overstepped what is called for by the Constitution.  They have their grubby fingers on everything and waste money like drunken sailors.  Raising taxes also needs to be constrained somewhat by law, I believe.  I know what I am advocating will never happen the way I would like.  The only hope to even get us back on track is through a Constitutional convention to somewhat reel congress back in and put their spending on a short leash ...

I know that's Economics is required for graduation in Texas.  I had the best teacher that used some of the best southern sayings to get his points across.  The thing is these kids today don't realize everyone, but the Government officials and their friends would be poor.  We'd have Section 8 housing for everyone, all products would be rationed at higher costs, healthcare would be cheaper but some procedures would be forbidden or would be paid out of pocket at prices that would be hard to afford, productivity would falter because there are no rewards or bonuses with Socialism,  it requires teamwork which is hard to obtain since there isn't any incentive,  teachers, doctors, lawyers, the Government would expand even further, and I'm sure I'm missing a few things.  While Socialism does look good on paper, especially if you're being indoctrinated it is never successful when implemented.

I'd like to know when this was made, because the economy has been booming since Trump has been President.  It had to be a 3 or 4 years ago, because the debt is $21.274 trillion now.

I think it was sometime in the runup to the election, or shortly after. I don't know.

I think it had to be further back, because the deficit was near or at $20 trillion when Trump was elected.
