The internet (YouTube) really hurt MTV with the music videos, so they went hard with tv shows. When streaming services became available, people went to that for TV. I'm not sure if anybody watches tv shows that are actually on tv anymore. I know the only thing I use my tv for (other than streaming) is sports and MAYBE the news...
