District 11AA D1 Football

BS......Have some confidence and swagger. Act like you belong on top. Don't act like it's an accident. Boys are in 1st because of the hard work put in over the summer. Who's next mentality.....Want some come get some. Play each week with the same intensity and don't worry about the what ifs. Hit somebody in the mouth and let's roll. If the other teams in this district wanna pee down their leg then let em. Raise the bar. Expect to be great and then go make it happen. Don't settle for mediocrity. Remember what Timpson did to ya last year and go get revenge.

Garrison continues to struggle trying to run the direct snap to Porter or the zone read ... they aren't fooling anyone and defenses continue to key on Porter and he has no blocking ... it's probably the worst offensive scheme they could run with the linemen they have ... it's too late in the season to change or make any significant adjustments ... I listened to the game on the internet broadcast and every time they managed to make big plays they got penalties that killed their momentum ... it's a tough season to watch for a Bulldog fan ... hopefully brighter days are ahead as there are a lot of talented kids moving up ... Dawgs will struggle to make the playoffs and if they do, it will be tough sledding ... our linemen are usually one of our main strengths most every season, not this year ...

Joaquin survives a terrible second half performance against Timpson, Garrison looks like Garrison against Beckville, and Harleton shows they’re for real with a win over Tenaha. Updated standings:

1. Joaquin (6-1, 3-0)

2. Harleton (6-2, 3-1)

3. Garrison (3-3, 2-2)

4. Tenaha (3-3, 1-2) Linden-Kildare (2-4, 1-2) Beckville (2-4, 1-2)

7. Timpson (2-5, 1-3)

This week’s games:

Joaquin at Beckville

Garrison at Tenaha

LK at Timpson

Harleton (bye)

I also posted in the Joaquin-Beckville thread but I’ll comment here as well...

Joaquin can set themselves up for a district championship game against Harleton week 11 with a win this week. Beckville has a history of playing Joaquin tough when they appear to be outmanned, but I just don’t see that happening this year.

Not that any team isn’t at this point, but who would’ve guessed that Garrison and Tenaha would be playing what almost boils down to an elimination game. Neither would be all the way eliminated from the playoff picture, but they sure will make life extremely difficult on themselves with a loss. A win will go a long, long way for both in securing a spot in the dance.

LK and Timpson is the same as Garrison & Tenaha, with the caveat of Timpson being eliminated with a loss. Bears are essentially in playoff mode with 3 weeks left in the season.

Thanks true for the update on standings. We still have a lot of work to do and the boys need to stay focused on one game at a time

No real big surprises in this week’s games. Joaquin, Garrison and Timpson all handled their business in less than ideal conditions. I’m somewhat surprised that Tenaha is facing elimination from playoff contention with two games left in district play.
District standings after week 8:

1. Joaquin (7-1, 4-0)

2. Harleton (6-2, 3-1)

3. Garrison (4-4, 3-2)

4. Timpson (3-5, 2-3)

5. (Tie) Beckville, Tenaha, Linden-Kildare (1-3)

Week 9 games:

Tenaha at Joaquin

Harleton at Garrison

Beckville at Linden-Kildare

Timpson bye

Joaquin is in, winner of Harleton- Garrison in for sure, after that who knows

Would think loser of Beckville,Lk is out, and Tenaha out after this week,so I am saying lk and Tenaha done after Friday, last week of season Beckville will be out, leaves G,J,H,and T as the 4 teams and have no clue what order, would think Timpson would be 4th place just because Harleton beat them, just for grins I will say this order H,J,G,T. One thing for sure, it will be fund to see it play out. That would put Harleton vs Deweyville, Joaquin vs Shelbyville again, Garrison vs Groveton, and (bless their souls) Timpson vs San Augustine. I just don't see Shelbyville beating Groveton. But WHO KNOWS.

If Harleton beats Garrison this week and Timpson beats Beckville the last week both would be 3-3, that puts Timpson 3rd and Garrison 4th because of the head to head loss.

That would also set up Joaquin vs Harleton for the outright district championship in week 11. Provided Joaquin beats Tenaha.

Slobber knocker to the max and neither team runs the spread, how great is that, let's go retro back to the 70's

So if Tenaha beats Joaquin and wins their last game AND if Timpson beats Beckville then what happens

Because that scenario is not far fetched

That would depend on the result of Harleton/ Garrison. If Garrison, Timpson and Tenaha all finish 3-3, they’re tied for third. Tenaha maxed out the tiebreaker on Timpson, so Timpson is out, Garrison 3rd, Tenaha 4th.
