They make now roughly $57,000,000 on renewal fees so don't look for it to be free from the sense they'll tax you somewhere else to make up for the loss of this revenue generating resource.

Correct.

Next week, two gun control measures will be heard in Texas House and Senate committees. Both are patterned after legislation that New York billionaire Michael Bloomberg and the anti-gun organizations he funds have aggressively pushed on the state and national levels.

On Monday, March 20, at 2:00pm or upon adjournment of the House in Room E2.014 of the State Capitol, the House Criminal Jurisprudence Committee will hear House Bill 866, legislation sponsored by Rep. Joe Moody (D-El Paso) and patterned after California gun laws. HB 866 would allow any family member or household member, prosecuting attorney or peace officer to petition for a lethal violence protective order against an individual based on allegations that the person has engaged or is engaging in behavior that the petitioners subjectively deem to be dangerous. Individuals against whom such orders are issued could be forced by the courts, without a hearing, to surrender any personally-owned firearms to a law enforcement agency. Texas already has strong protective order laws in place and procedures by which peace officers can dispossess dangerous individuals of firearms which – unlike HB 866 –contain important due process protections before someone is denied their Second Amendment rights.

Please contact members of the House Criminal Jurisprudence Committee and urge them to oppose HB 866.

On Tuesday, March 21, at 1:30pm or upon adjournment of the Senate in Room E1.016, the Senate Criminal Justice Committee will hear Senate Bill 221, sponsored by Sen. Jose Menendez (D-San Antonio), legislation prohibiting the transfer of a firearm to a person one knows to be listed in the terrorist screening database maintained by the FBI. It is unclear how this would work, since licensed firearms dealers cannot access the list, nor can private individuals who are selling or transferring firearms. Persons may be added to the watchlist without being charged or convicted of any crimes, and those on the list are never notified if, how, or why they are on it. There is no process in place to have your name removed from the list, and mistaken identities are common. In every other case in which a person is deprived of their Second Amendment liberties, they are afforded a judicial proceeding. Due process of the law must be followed before depriving anyone of their constitutional rights.

Please contact members of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee and urge them to oppose SB 221.

Also next week, priority legislation addressing the high fees for Licenses to Carry (LTCs) in the State of Texas will be considered by both Senate and House committees. Senate Bill 16, sponsored by Sen. Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) and Sen. Joan Huffman (R-Houston), will be considered by the Senate State Affairs Committee on Monday. House Bill 300, sponsored by Rep. Phil King (R-Weatherford), will be before the House Homeland Security & Public Safety on Tuesday. We will report back to you on the outcome of these committee meetings as lawmakers work on these important bills!

With OUR legislature those bills will die a very quick death.........

I'm getting ahead of the breitsmart train this morning with one observation and question about the Arkansas clowns Morgan addresses as well and all other clowns across the country. Do republicOns or demontoads ever get anything right?

You mean you can look at the state of government at the federal and state level and still have to ask that question? I had you figured for a much more intelligent guy. Hanging out with Kirt and Pack may be killing off your brain cells.

Professor blames Las Vegas massacre on 'Trumpism,' 'narrative of white victimization'

Drexel University professor George Ciccariello-Maher tweeted that "white people and men" will go on shooting sprees "when they don't get what they want."

Extreme "Trumpism" and "white victimization" motivated the Las Vegas shooter who killed 59 and injured at least 515 others, according to a Drexel University professor.

Associate Professor George Ciccariello-Maher tweeted just hours after the massacre “white people and men” will go on shooting sprees “when they don’t get what they want.”

Stephen Paddock used a perch inside the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino to rain down fire on a crowd at a country music concert Sunday night.

Drexel University told Fox News the professor’s tweets don’t represent the university’s views.

“The recent social media comments by George Ciccariello-Maher, associate professor of Politics and Global Studies at Drexel University, are his own opinion and do not represent the University’s views,” the university said in a statement. “Drexel is deeply saddened by the tragic shooting in Las Vegas. The thoughts and prayers of the Drexel community are with the families of those affected by this senseless act of violence.”

This professor has a history of controversial tweets. In 2016, he tweeted “all I want for Christmas is white genocide.”

Cicariello-Maher began a Twitter thread Monday morning with a three word message: “A White Man.”

Cicariello-Maher continued:

"But liberals will drown out all discourse with a deafening chorus screeching 'gun control.' To believe that someone who would shoot down 50 people wouldn't circumvent any gun law you pass is the height of delusion. But liberal escapism means talking about easy questions and proposing easy non-solutions rather than talking about who kills and why.

"White people and men are told that they are entitled to everything. This is what happens when they don't get what they want. The narrative of white victimization has been gradually built over the past 40 years. It is the spinal column of Trumpism, and most extreme form is the white genocide myth. Yesterday was a morbid symptom of what happens when those who believe they deserve to own the world also think it is being stolen from them."

He ended with this tweet several hours later:

“Here's a wild idea: white supremacy in the U.S. is a bipartisan project, & *both* the gun lobby *and* the anti-gun lobby are racist as

Hmm... so a racist white guy, upset that Trump won the election, decides to take out his anger on a bunch of white people at a country music concert?

Makes perfect sense.

Liberal Logic. Makes almost as much sense as Common Core Math

Ok... I'm pro 2nd amendment. It's an American citizens right to own fire arms to protect them selves and for recreational purposes. I want everyone's views and reasoning as to why. I want to hear more than just the second amendment and the "shall not be infringed" argument. I want to hear reasons as to why there should or should not be stricter gun control laws.
