2019-20 District 11-6A Thread

Last night was a big night for the Girls.

Longview won their second game in a row for the first time since mid December, over North Mesquite. And with Rockwall Heath's heavy loss to Mesquite Horn, that pushed the Lady Lobos into a playoff spot.

I'm missing the Tyler Lee/Rockwall score, but here are the standings I have.

GIRLS STANDINGS
1) Mesquite Horn (17-12, 9-1)
2) Tyler Lee (23-6, 8-1) *missing last night's game*
3) Rockwall (21-10, 7-3) *missing last night's game*
4) Longview (13-16, 4-6)
5) Rockwall Heath (21-12, 4-7)
6) North Mesquite (7-18, 2-8)
7) Mesquite (15-18, 1-9)

So 1-3 have already clinched.

The race for 4th is definitely on.

Longview closes with Tyler Lee on the road, before hosting Mesquite.
Rockwall Heath hosts North Mesquite next Tuesday.
North Mesquite travels to both Mesquite Horn and Rockwall Heath to end the season.

Really, this thing is down to Longview and Heath, as North has to win out and hope Longview doesn't win one of their final two games to force a tie breaker. I don't see them beating Horn.

Longview's game at Lee on Friday will be tough, but they did defeat Mesquite at Mesquite earlier in the season, so closing at home against the district's worst team is a good omen for the Lady Lobos.

Heath's loss last Friday in overtime to the Lady Lobos (in Rockwall at that) really, really hurts them. They can get in if they beat North and Longview loses both.

I'm assuming there would be a district playoff if both Longview and Heath finish at 4-8 or 5-7.

Longview defeated Tyler Lee last night, 82-50.
Rockwall defeated Mesquite, 68-56.
Mesquite Horn defeated North Mesquite, 90-54.
Rockwall Heath was off.

Updated standings...

BOYS STANDINGS
1) Rockwall (19-11, 8-2)
2) Mesquite Horn (21-10, 7-2)
3) Longview (23-8, 7-3)
4) Mesquite (11-14, 5-4)
5) Rockwall Heath (16-13, 5-4)
6) North Mesquite (7-19, 1-9)
7) Tyler Lee (6-17, 0-9)

Longview closes the season on the road with Mesquite and Rockwall.
Heath closes on the road with North and Tyler Lee before hosting Mesquite.
Mesquite closes with home games against Longview and Horn before closing at Heath.
Horn closes with road games at Tyler Lee and Mesquite before hosting Rockwall.
Rockwall is at home vs Longview and closes with at Horn.

Longview really needs a road win on Tuesday at Mesquite to keep things in their hands, and not have to go into Rockwall in a must win situation. They dominated the Skeeters in Longview.

Both Rockwall and Horn are basically in, though if Rockwall loses out, it might be interesting in a three way tie type of situation.

Mesquite has the hardest schedule to end things for sure with Longview/Horn then at Heath. With Heath playing North and Lee to finish things before that final game, the Hawks should be 7-4 going into that one against Mesquite. That's why Longview/Mesquite this coming Tuesday is so important, to keep the Skeeters still in the race.

GIRLS STANDINGS
1) Tyler Lee (25-6, 10-1)
2) Mesquite Horn (18-12, 10-1)
3) Rockwall (21-11, 7-4) *missing one game*
T4) Longview (13-17, 4-7)
T4) Rockwall Heath (21-12, 4-7)
6) North Mesquite (7-19, 2-9)
7) Mesquite (15-18, 1-9) *missing one game*

Mesquite Horn escaped North last night, Longview was blown out by Tyler Lee, Missing the Rockwall/Mesquite score but pretty sure the Jackets won.

Tyler Lee at Mesquite Horn on Tuesday decides the district championship.

Longview hosts Mesquite on Tuesday, Rockwall Heath hosts North Mesquite.

I'm assuming we're heading for a playoff tiebreaker. Longview and Heath both split their in season games.

Friday Games:
Rockwall Heath at Tyler Lee
Mesquite Horn at Mesquite
Longview at Rockwall
North Mesquite - Bye

Next Tuesday Games:
Mesquite at Rockwall Heath
Rockwall at Mesquite Horn
Tyler Lee at North Mesquite
Longview - Bye

Rockwall has clinched a playoff berth. Mesquite Horn, I'm going to assume beat Lee last night for now (though haven't updated that in the standings), should've clinched a playoff berth last night. Longview has clinched a playoff berth.

Seeding however is still all over the place.

Lobos still have a shot at the district crown, if Horn can lose at least one and Longview can upset Rockwall in Rockwall on Friday. No idea what happens in a 3-way tie for seeding purposes.

Heath can clinch a playoff berth if they defeat Lee on Friday AND Mesquite falls to Horn. If not, then it'll come down to the final game in Heath next Tuesday.

PLAYOFF WATCH

From what I can tell, Killeen Ellison has clinched top spot in 12-6A. Midway should finish second. Temple and Killeen Harker Heights have clinched a playoff berth, but still have to fight things out for 3rd and 4th.
