All schools will be affected. You've got schools that have 500 kids competing against schools with 1230 in other sports other than football. What a joke UIL.

I agree.  What sense does that make in sports other than football?  You have a 515 kid 4A school competing against a 1229 4A school.  That is basically a school their size + two 3A D1 schools + a 2A D1 school.  Good luck with all that.

Any others effected like that? I suppose that's a win . I wonder which District they would been more successful in .

Looking at the district map, they could go with Mabank, Athens, Kaufman, Wax Life, and Midlothian Heritage in District 9.

From what I’m hearing this was caused by the McAllen ISD schools with the incorrect numbers that placed them in 6A instead of 5A, causing them to need to reduce the number of schools in 5A. What I don’t like about it is that instead of moving some of the largest 5As up to 6A to replace the schools lost in 6A, they raised the 4A cutoff to drop a couple 5AD2 schools, saving the rear ends of a couple 5AD1 schools... such as Highland Park. Also a couple tiny 5As dropping to 4A probably is going to cause less uproar than a couple 5As going up to 6A.

Now, it could be also because of opt ups, I haven’t seen all the information yet.

Alright, I've done this for 3A DI, and will give it a shot for 4A. I will post 4A DI within the next few days.

To me, this comes down to what they are going to do with the likes of Carthage and a few other in that area. You could shift those teams south with the likes of Jasper and crew, which in turn would make a larger district with the likes of WO-S. However, I believe that creates problems filling in districts in the remainder of region III and IV. I don't see them spiting the D16 teams since that would automatically create two four-team districts.

Thoughts? What would you change?

WIth the UIL adjusting the cutoff numbers, it changed who is moving up and down.... including Royse City, which obviously affects things for East Texas.

Pulled out a map and listed all the schools for the surrounding districts in Region II and III and came up with this:

District 5
Aledo
Everman
Burleson
Cleburne
Joshua
Waco University
Arlington Seguin
Mansfield Timberview
Grapevine

With Burleson Centennial and Midlothian moving up to 5A-D1, it makes perfect room for Timberview and Grapevine to slide into their slots.  The only variation I can see of this would have Waco heading down the I-30 corridor.  Other than that.... this district looks pretty solid and outside of University.... geographically pleasing to the fans.

District 6
Dallas Conrad
Dallas Hillcrest
Dallas Jefferson
Dallas Kimball
Dallas Seagoville
Dallas Adamson
Dallas South Oak Cliff
Dallas Spruce
Carrollton Creekview

Red Oak is moving up to 5A-D1, and Hillcrest and Carrollton Creekview move up from 4A Div I.  Geographically a pretty pleasing district.

District 7
Frisco
Frisco Lebanon
Frisco Liberty
Frisco Memorial
Lake Dallas
Denison
Lucas-Lovejoy
Princeton
Prosper Rock Hill

With Denton Braswell moving to 6A, and Reedy going to 5A-Div I, it makes room for Frisco Liberty, who will drop from D-1.  Prosper Rock Hill will make its sports debut in 2020.  Again.... it's a geographically pleasing district too.

District 8
Royse City
Sulphur Springs
Greenville
North Forney
Forney
Ennis
Mesquite Poteet
Corsicana
Crandall

With Terrell and Kaufman both dropping to 4A Div I, Crandall and Mesquite Poteet neatly takes their slots.  This district is spread out more than the above districts, but overall it works pretty well geographically.

District 9
Marshall
Hallsville
Pine Tree
Jacksonville
Mount Pleasant
Texas High
Nacogdoches
Whitehouse

With Lindale dropping to 4A-D1, it makes sense that Texas High will take their slot as they drop fro 5A-Div I.  It's not a pretty alignment for Texas High with long drives to Nacogdoches (149 miles), Jacksonville (145 miles) and Whitehouse (141 miles).  MP will be their lone neighbor.  Marshall (72 miles), Hallsville (85 miles),  and Pine Tree (90 miles) will be their next closest games.

Odd to think about Texas High being in region III given the geography of most of the regions..... but I can't see Texas High or MP joining their I-30 brethren.  It's just too crowded.  The deep East Texas district is the only one that doesn't have nine teams in it.

Yea, it's going to end up being a 6-team district.

Longview, John Tyler, Sherman, McKinney North, West Mesquite and Wylie East.

It's the only thing that makes sense.

I see them finding one or two teams to put into the district.

Assuming you're right (or at least very close), what would you guess our non-district games might look like?

Scrimmage - Lee
Wk 1 Temple at AT&T
Wk 2 Marshall
Wk 3 Cedar Hill/Some unknown
Wk 4 West Monroe in Shreveport
Wk 5 Rockwall

Would be my guess (cause I think 11-6A will be similar to our situation). If they do do what Padilla is predicting (Longview/John Tyler/Lancaster/Midlothian/Red Oak/West Mesquite/Wylie East), then who knows.

I've seen a ton of predictions, including one with the Mansfield schools with us as well now that there's just two. Would be very interesting.

I don't understand the logic of dropping Lufkin and keeping Marshall.. I guess the pack maybe a playoff foe? A hiatus is sometimes good for a rivalry that's been heavily one sided.

Administration push back. It's not unknown that the series has run its course, but you know, a lot of people in big places don't want to give up the game.

Lufkin, they're going to be in a very large district. Longview already has week 1 booked, and they didn't want to play us right out of the gates anyways. They're not giving up the Nac series as well, who they usually play in week 2 if I remember correctly. So just no room this season. But potential playoff meeting is definitely in that line of thought as well I would suspect.

Wouldn't they end up in different regions?  Would have to be a semi or state final match-up then.

Why would they end up in different regions?

There's not nearly enough schools in R1 or 2 to push Lufkin and that district to R3.
