Marshall and WH are tied for the district lead at (5-0).  Two games remain.

Whoever wins this game will clinch at least a tie for the district championship.

I'll post all the statistical and historical information later today!

If Marshall plays like they are capable of they take this. They have got to find a way to play penalty free football. The game against Nac was as sloppy as you can get! The defense and offense both looked as if they were sleep walking the first half. In the second half they played lights out for most of the half but still keep Nac in the game with stupid penalties. If Marshall plays a first half against Whitehouse like they played against Nac they may not have what is needed to recover the second half. The question I have for the Mavericks is, are you up for the challenge of District Champions? Whitehouse playing at home is going to come at you with everything they have for they believe they are the Distinct Champions already. What say you Mavericks? As usual GO MAVERICKS!

The Mavs will need their best game in district thus far.

WH's offense is no joke.  The defense is going to have to tighten up..... this will be their toughest test since Longview and Carthage.  We can't give up a ton of passing yards and big pass plays.... which we have struggled with at times this season.

Offensively we need to keep the ball.... keep the WH offense on the sidelines.  We have been incredibly balanced on offense since district started outside of last night's game Vs. Nac.  I think the weather necessitated that.  We became VERY one dimensional in the rain.

We need to mix the pass and the run to keep WH's defense honest.  Can't let them stack the box OR have coverage too tight on the passing game.  If they do... we need to make them pay.  Long drives that end in scores.

Unless it has changed through the years, and I suspect it hasn't..... WH is a TOUGH place to get a win.  They have a great crowd at home.  Big, loud band.  And refs that serve up the best home cooking in Smith County.

We have to be able to overcome all that.  Going to be tough.  WH means business.

Could be for the district championship if Lindale beats PT.

Marshall and Whitehouse first met in 2004.

The Mavs won the first two games in 2004 and 2005.

Then Whitehouse ripped off six straight from 2006-2013.

Marshall got back in the win column last season with a 37-13 victory.

Whitehouse leads the series (6-3).

Comparing stats...... a few things that jump out at me

1.  Both Marshall and WH have quarterbacks that are the top rushers on their team.
2.  Both have other running backs to keep things spread out and honest
3.  Both have multiple WR's that can take it to the house
4.  Both are pretty balanced between run and pass with a bend to the running game

Knowing how potent the WH offense was, I was actually pretty surprised to see Marshall had a slight edge in statistics than the Wildcats did.  Esp with the debacles at Longview and Carthage where there was almost zero offense in either game while we were scrambling to find a quarterback.  If we had put up just modest numbers in those two games.... our numbers would be out of sight.  BUT..... stats are stats... and at the end of the day those two losses didn't cost us a thing.

This will be Marshall's toughest test since Longview and Carthage.  And since both of those games were on the road.... playing in Whitehouse should be no big deal for the Mavs.  BUT... I know it's a tough place to get a win.  WH has a great crowd at home.

We need Savion to be 100% and in sync with his WR.  OL needs to open up some holes.  No turnovers, no stupid penalties and the defense will need to be on their toes.

Tough game.  Will probably be an offensive battle.  Whichever team has the better defense will likely win.

Can't wait..... this is for the district championship!

Marshall by at least 2 scores.....WH will have a hard time stopping Savion. Also, WH corners are not as strong as their safeties so ...Marshall DBs are legit, we (JAX) had a hard time getting the ball to Carpenter.... Trevino is good but he’s no Carpenter.

Marshall 35

WH 21
