StingEmALTO Posted November 2, 2019 Author Share Posted November 2, 2019 Alto routs Hawkins, 57-8; Jackets a win away from undefeated regular season Progress staff reports ALTO — Another Friday night and another lopsided win for the No. 8-ranked Alto Yellowjackets. The Mean Sting handed Hawkins, who came into the fray unbeaten in District 10-2A-I, a 57-8 beat down on a cold night at Cam'ron Matthews Field at Jacket Stadium. The Jackets led 37-0 at the break and moved to 9-0, 4-0 with the win. Cayle Irvin spurred on the Alto defense by making a team-high 14 tackles and two tackles for loss. Josh Castillo added eight stops and three tackles for loss, while Harmon West collected eight tackles in the romp. The Jacket defense limited the Hawks (3-6, 3-1) to a total of 55 yards on the ground and 40 through the air. In district play this season, the Mean Sting defenders have allowed opponents to score just over seven points a game.
