Wait, wait, I do know. The Civil War. Rather than insult you personally, I think I'll just point out a couple of facts. 1. Why did the south lose the Civil War? They ran out of money. Period. 2. Who's out of money already? Not Texas. We have a 9 billion dollar surplus, while the USSA is several trillion in the hole. Do the math.

RETIREDFAN1
Freedom and liberty are more important than loyalty to any nation-state. If the USSA (I like that) continues to go along the path to socialism and totalitarianism, then the time has come for those who value liberty to rise and be heard......Texas should and will be a leader in the drive to protect the liberty of her citizens from the oppressive regime currently in power in Washington.......If that means leaving the totalitarian state that is forming, then so be it..... Do you agree with the actions taken and the choices made by the Southern states prior to the Civil War? Irrelevant to the current situation..... chase.colston
It is relevant, because Fivehead said this: 1. Why did the south lose the Civil War? They ran out of money. Period. All I was doing was following that up. And despite my agreements and/or disagreements with the current decisions being made by the Obama administration, I have not lost any freedoms or liberties I had when Bush or Clinton were in office. And also despite any cries or pleas for the escape from the Union that is the United States of America, I guarantee you that Texas, or any other state, will never, ever make the move to remove itself from the United States of America. With that said, and knowing that it will NEVER happen, feel free to leave on your own if life as you know it is over, or is so bad here. I wonder what you people would do if you live in a different place in this world and were in certain situations that are far worse than this so-called atrocity you live in now in America. Are you really that spoiled, that arrogant?

RETIREDFAN1
I wonder what you people would do if you live in a different place in this world and were in certain situations that are far worse than this so-called atrocity you live in now in America. Are you really that spoiled, that arrogant? Those places are like that for the very reason that no one had enough courage to stand up and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH....You do have less freedom now than you had just 3 months ago. Look up the 'stimulus' package that was passed and check it out..... And lest one thinks that none of this concerns him or her, I would like to remind you of the lament of Martin Niemoeller back in the days of Hitler's Germany. Niemoeller was a decorated U-Boat Captain and pastor of great distinction. An avid anti-communist, Niemoeller at first supported Hitler's rise to power and was hesitant to oppose the violations of civil rights against various groups he personally found distasteful. It did not take long, however, before Niemoeller realized that when laws protecting the rights of all were removed from some, no one was safe--including him. Unfortunately, he learned his lesson too late, as he, too, was persecuted and imprisoned by Hitler's State Police. Here is what Niemoeller said about his indifference: "They came first for the communists, and I did not speak up- because I was not a communist; And then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak up- because I was not a trade unionist; And then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak up- because I was not a Jew; And then they came for me- and there was no one left to speak up." Mantle, we are not going to sit around and allow this to happen. It has begun...the fascists are in power and are now trying their best to find a way to keep it forever. Patriots won't sit idly by and watch it happen.....You, and the rest of the leftist media establishment fawning over the new hitler, will never recognize the threat until it's too late...... chase.colston
Eh, I'm not fawning over anyone Captain Planet. And since you're not going to "sit idly by and watch it happen," I'm ready to watch you and your buddies put together a militia, a force, and take back what you think is lost. Don't let me get in your way ... I'll just watch from my front-row seat.

chase.colston
How am I a coward? You completely twisted what I said. You guys say you're not going to stand by and let the "fascists" run the "USSA" into the ground. So I said I want to see y'all do something about it. I would argue that "cowards" cut and run. I'm not going anywhere.
Five0pd310
To be honest, I'm a torn soul on this issue. I don't want the USA to be ripped apart. At the same time however, I don't want to be a part of the best country in the world and watch it as it slides downhill while we all stand by and say, "well, it could be worse. Look at country X." chase.colston
I never said it could be worse. I did say this: I wonder what you people would do if you live in a different place in this world and were in certain situations that are far worse than this so-called atrocity you live in now in America. Are you really that spoiled, that arrogant? ... because I was responding to prior posts. This country has been in far worse situations than this multiple times in its young history, and it overcame it, too. Great Depression, anyone? Civil War?
