The "stimulus package" is a joke, and the way the administration is setting up our financial situation over the next decade is almost cruel and unusual punishment. But, to say the current state of our country is worse than previous times (the Great Depression, the Civil War, Vietnam War, Cuban Missile Crisis, etc.) just baffles me. Despite these poor decisions, the USA is not going to be Communist Russia. Not even close. And I also do not understand these cries for secession and breaking away from the greatest country when we all preached unity for all the years prior to Obama being elected. Since you can't seem to grasp the situation, allow me to simplify it into terms even you can understand. The USA is the people, not the government. The current version of the government has broken their end of the deal by ignoring the Constitution. All 3 branches of the federal government are working in unison to destroy this country as we know it and re-form it into a socialist nation. Texas was not annexed by the USA, they entered by treaty. Since they have broken the treaty that Texas signed with them in 1845, it is null and void and we are within our legal right to leave. And we should. A) The AIG employees had/have legal contracts with the company (their employer) that spell out their bonus packages. B) The paying of these bonuses was ratified, at the administrations urging, in the stimulus package (the Dodd amendment). C) The bonuses were paid. D) Ex past facto, the same Congress has passed a bill, which when passes and signed by the POTUS, will effectively tax away these bonuses. The whole concept of contract law (the foundation of free market capitalism) is now threatened by this already failed administration and by this out-of-control Congress! Coup d'etat or Seceed! Maintaining freedom at the very least takes a voice, and it takes a vote. You don't seem to want to use either. And it may yet require some courage along with that voice and vote. Just because someone is inclined politically to do something that you want, does not make them a coward. if not, then if he is wanting to improve American to his ideals instead of leaving, but you are not, then by the same coin could he not call y'all cowards? I was watching CBS last night (kind of accidentally) after the NCAA tournament was over. My wife and I were talking about something with my four year old and my nine year old sons playing in the living room. Out of the blue, a man on TV says TobinFrost - he used God's name in vein, on primetime TV, on a Sunday no less. Immediately, my wife asked me what channel it was on and sure enough, CBS. I don't think there has ever been a period in this country's young history where if you transplanted a person from fifty years prior it would be this different. Ex: take a man from 1800 and put him in 1850 - not that big of a difference. Take a man from 1900 and put him in 1950 - quite a few technological advances, but still he wouldn't fell out of place morally Now take a man from 1960 and put him in San Fransisco right now and that guy would be scratching his head wondering what in the hell has happened.... Abortion, gay rights, prayer in schools, gun control, presidents who are liars and adulters with no repercussion, animal rights, this myth about global warming, drugs, teen pregnancy....... do I need to keep going. You see, there are an ever decreasing amount of us who actual believe and FEAR GOD, and from our perspective, things look pretty hopeless. Hopeless to the point that I can't even turn my TV on primetime without somebody using His name in vein. PS - mantle, watch out!!! Fivehead will do you like a roll of dimes..... Or the loss of General Stonewall Jackson...lol No the main reason the south lost was we were outnumbered, and had far less capital. And despite what is put out there slavery was not the reason the Civil War was fought, their freedom was just another result (a good one of course) of the south losing. We as people need to stop listening to the BS being fed to us by major news networks and just get rid of the idiots we have put in Washington. It is that simple, but people don't seem to pay attention to who or what they vote for anymore. I mean did you see some of the interviews with the average Obama voter? They were about as well informed as my 6 month old niece, and probably less. Idiots got caught up in the hype put out there by all the major networks like they always do, and the people who say ###!?!?! got the short end of the stick...I wish voting required an IQ test...I hate both of the parties, our government has grown astronomically bigger than it was ever intended to be, and will continue to do so if we keep putting these people in there.
