beazer74
Have seen it for years, but never understood the playing of a playoff game at one of the teams home stadium. I understand the advantages this gives but to see takes away form that playoff atmosphere. Why play at home over a neutral site??
CoachC44
For 5a and 6a it is a UIL rule that you play the first round game at the higher seeds home stadium.
PelvisPresley
I'm guessing it's difficult for those schools to find LARGE stadiums to hold fans in "fairly equidistance" most of the time, so instead of the UIL hearing fan bases gripe about the "flip of home / away" (whose fan base got screwed out of seeing the game)...they got school AD's to agree to this. BoyzNdaHood
I like it honestly, especially when the higher seed went undefeated or so to speak.. if you going to beat me come to my house and do it
PelvisPresley
that would have been good in 3A/4A too...back when Traylor was at Gilmer and it was rolling...a couple years they got ugly HOME/AWAY flips and with their huge travelling fan bases side would be filled up 90 minutes to 120 minutes before game time then started trickling over to HOME side... Eagleborn
I’m all for it as a fan. As far as the actual game goes team can stick with normal home game schedule. I’m sure that matters.
EazyMoney
I’m ok with it unless it requires 3-4 hour road trips, especially on a Friday night. Hard for the road fans to make that unless it’s played on a Saturday.
PelvisPresley
I'm sure that part could be negotiated...UIL just wants it done I think by midnight Saturday.
beazer74
i didnt know this was a rule. I am sure there are pros and cons to it.
lionpride08
3ad1 2017 franklin played groesbeck in groesbeck for the first playoff game.... Couldnt find a stadium for both to play at the was semi neutral so they agreed to do a coin flip... Groesbeck won the coin flip and was the 4th place team in their district.... Now if franklin and groesbeck meet up in the playoffs again down the road even if its round 4 franklin gets to choose to play at home or neutral site of their choosing
