Here’s my take, usually when a team loses a key player they take a psychological hit. When Nelson went down the Rams seemed to cinch their bootstraps up tighter. This was what Joaquin was capable of all year. This was 4 full quarters of football FINALLY when it truly counted.

The Alto hype train was real. Were no smoke and mirrors. When I showed up and heard that band play and that crowd cheer I got goosebumps. Ram crowds are faithful and ram band is good but they ain’t never had an aura like that. I literally could not hear the Joaquin band play over the Alto band and I was sitting right by the Joaquin band.

First half had penalties and turnovers but was a tough contest. These teams were popping leather. As a result Joaquin loses a stud at running back.

Second half, particularly the 3rd quarter, I could almost sense something from the Alto players body language. They knew they were in a fight. Weren’t no cupcakes on this night. They met a worthy foe. 4th quarter you could sense the Alto crowd, had, for the first time, been in an uncomfortable spot.

The rams fell behind but simply would not give up. Bragg breaking loose on that pass, and then a few good runs you could sense the boys wanted it. Hats off to the Rams coaching staff. They made some adjustments at half time, on the fly moving the Qb to Rb and a lineman to Qb. A lot of programs would have thrown their hands up losing a stud rb.

My take away. Both teams are grade A class act top shelf programs filled with good people. District 11 had more to it than people gave them credit for. The Joaquin Rams have let the entire region know they are to be take seriously, not just this season, but every season.

Oh yea, and this thread has been legendary and the game matched it.

I’m just glad that one “fans” comment didn’t curse us. Screw that dude still.

So I will post this here this game was a tell of two halves. Alto really should’ve put up a few more points in the first half but mistakes and penalties killed them.  The 2nd half Joaquin made the adjustments on defense and showed the will to stay in it. That TD pass was a thing of beauty and 6in difference that ball is knocked down.  Perfect placement and great speed after the catch. That play turned the whole game. The momentum right before that was all Alto’s but that played kicked us in the gut. When #2 went down it took all of any wind that was left and killed the momentum for us completely.

Alto since 2007 has had problems with hard nosed gritty teams. The ball control offenses have ate our lunch on quite a few occasions in the last few years. Centerville and Joaquin have ended some really good teams playoff runs over the last decade for us. This is where our schedule in district hurt us I believe. Carlisle was really the only adversity we faced since week 5 and games like this is needed sometimes to get ready for the ones that matter. You have to play the schedule you’re dealt.  This game had me cautious all week.

Tonight the way that Joaquin adjusted on defense at half time was the true difference. They almost completely shut down the middle of the field to the run where in the first half I felt we should’ve lived more often as we were pretty much moving at will. Once Joaquin smelled the blood after that punt I felt it was going to be tough to get the team back motivated.

The first half was sloppy but the physicality was completely there. Bothe teams were looking for contact. The 2nd half that physicality almost seemed to multiply and the mistakes cleaned up and it was one of the best half’s of football I have seen in a while.

The refs I won’t get into to much but come on.  They had more yellow on the field then Alto did on their jerseys and miss some obvious call on both sides. I understand how tough it is to see things from that prospective as I have done it and did it in playoff games.

Congratulations once again Rams and good luck the rest of the way.   By the way three playoff wins in a row does start to make a rival. Lol.

Be proud Jackets you played a heck of a season and a heck of a team at the end.

Great EPIC thread for a great EPIC game.

One last thing, this region is either really good or really weak and whoever comes out I hope takes region 4 to the cleaners.  So many close ball games and so much parody, it has been fun to watch.  It will be tough and just hope whoever it is that gets out is healthy when they get there.

I’ve been on this site for too long to do that. Many of you I have read many posts over the years and know that he or she were not representative of y’all as a group. As I said earlier in the week I enjoyed reffing y’all’s games as y’all had some great kids and tonight y’all showed that heart that I know is instilled into yalls program.

I’ll be the first to admit I have a ton of respect for Alto. Let me take you back about 12 years... I was a 14 year old kid and it was the third round of the playoffs in Tatum. I was on kickoff and kick return. I was absolutely terrified every time I touched the field that I would have to make contact with someone in a white and black Jersey. I’ll never forget that feeling.

I knew if Joe could make Alto RB bounce at line of scrimmage then we had a chance.#8 probably had 12 tackles in 1st half..... and thats bad cuz he a safety. I don’t wanna hear Alto made too many mistakes cuz Joe made just as many in 1st half. Joe plays a style of defense that makes you drive the length of field. We are consistent and don’t kill ourself on defense
