I think he meant Brownwood had the "best defense", not LV.  But in either case you are correctomundo......Carthage has the best D in 4A-D1 for sure.

But I would say LV most probably has a better defense than Brownwood had, regardless of the stats.  That's just the way they are built and there is plenty of holdovers from last year's team that had so much youth coming back.  Yes......they graduated a good group of seniors on defense, but also returned some and had some on the bench that could start for many other teams that are starting this season.

But you think the game should be played indoors in Frisco or Arlington.  So Waco people could be arriving in the rush hour traffic of the metroplex. You think that is fair for the Waco fans but not if Argyle has to drive

SMH.

NOPE......I'm just saying it makes more sense for ALL regional finals in all classifications to have a preset venue with date and time for that game in place well in advance so there is no last minute scheduling to arrange for ALL fans......no matter what games they wish to attend.  These are REGIONAL games.

Doesn't matter Argyle has waited for one year for this match up.  We could play it in Bellmead and be happy!

You guys are missing the entire point......I'm not talking about just the LV/Argyle game.....I'm referring to the entire state and how to improve the playoff system as a whole.

A lot of times they do. Just some times they don't tell anyone. Why? IDK. But it's very common for coaches to have a pre-set venue this late in the playoffs.

Does anyone know if Argyle lost a flip?

They will take their time getting onto this thread.......last night was too close a call and they are all taking their heartpills this morning......LOL.

Last night was a joke.  Melissa ran for 289 up the middle.   A little coaching and we are trying to figure out how not to score 70 in quarter finals.

Assuming they did.  They did as the Star was reserved but apparently a frisco school trumped us.  doesn't matter as LV won last year because of weather but we have a different team this year.  Let it be rainey conditions and LV wont score..

Paul Pewitt and Daingerfield are roughly 12 miles apart...……..They are playing next Friday...………...Would make a lot of sense for them to be told to drive 150 miles away to play a game in front of 3000 to 4000 folks, when they can play 20 miles from both schools at a stadium that holds 8000, and it will probably be packed.

I can tell you this for sure......Scoggins is gonna be a very good back next season.....and then in his senior season in two years.  There are lots of sophs starting for Argyle this season and playing very impressively for their first season at this level.

Not to mention the freshman free safety that stepped up huge this week!

That's a one-case scenario among ALL the regional games in the state that will take place.....not a valid scenario to point toward considering all other situations.  AND you could amend a location in special circumstances that would be beneficial for a scenario like the one you just mentioned.

Football is to be played in every type of weather.

Yes but LV thinks they have an advantage because they had a player show up that didn't play against us early (they can tell you why not) and we couldn't run the ball in the rain.  They won fair and square and they are about to pay the price for that game.

They also wrongly assumed that Brownwood and Stephenville were the same teams in the playoffs that they faced earlier in the season.  I knew Stephenville would be tough and much improved with their 3-star QB and new coaching staff with a full season under their belts at the end of the season.......and they were.  I also saw the filmclips on Brownwood and was NEVER impressed with their defense being as good as the stats showed.  Just look at their schedule.

Carthage and Henderson in 2017 and 2018...……..Happens a lot...………..If Melissa had won last night, and the UIL had predetermined that the regionals finals would be in Waco, that would be great for both Argyle and Melissa...…………..and as YOU SAID earlier everyone had made plans in advance for the game in Waco, so once set you could not change it last minute

So what does this tell you???  That just maybe District 5 was not near as tough as District 7 teams?  Maybe.  Maybe just a little under District 7?   They did beat Celina by the same score as Argyle did.  But look at Melissa last night.....they really improved since they played Argyle in district play.......and I knew they would.  They had the personnel to do it, but needed the time.

Another scenario is that LV had their scare of the season last night.......kinda like Argyle did against Stephenville last week.  But Argyle really never lost control of the Stephenville game and won by 14 even with mistakes all over the field.  I don't think that happened to LV last night against Melissa.
