Schooner
You got that right woodgie07 English Patient was a waste of money and time. But Forrest Gump and Pulp Fiction was well done. Shawshan Redemption was worth the price.but I remember leaving after seeing "English Patient" thinking I had wasted my money.

cheaptrick77
While it would never be listed among my favorite movies, The English Patient is NOWHERE as boring as Gladiator ..........

HouTex
How is took 2+ pages to bring up the 1989 snub is beyond me. That is easily the funniest one.
KirtFalcon
1973 ...and the Oscar goes to: The Sting SHOULD HAVE WON: American Graffiti ................. I would have to disagree on this one. The Sting is one of my favorite movies of all time. American Graffiti was good, but not better than The Sting ... in my opinion!
cheaptrick77
American Graffiti was good, but not better than The Sting ... in my opinion! Fair enough. Seeing how American Graffiti is my favorite movie of all-time, I disagree :D 'which is nothing against The Sting - an EXCELLENT movie ... you can never go wrong with Newman/Redford. DaveTV1
The only ones I disagree with are : 1975 - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest 1986 - I'm still amazed that Stand By Me or Angel Heart were not nominated. 1988 - Rainman 1991 - Silence of the Lambs 1995 - Braveheart Another snub was from Tombstone in 1993 when Val Kilmer wasn't even nominated for best supporting actor. These are just some of the reasons that I don't watch the Oscars.
Stoney
Billy Crudup should have won supporting actor for Russell Hammond in Almost Famous.
Five0pd310
1986 - I'm still amazed that Stand By Me or Angel Heart were not nominated. ..and there it is. Two of the greatest movies of all time. Rourke at the top of his game, for sure, in Angel Heart.
cheaptrick77
Billy Crudup should have won supporting actor for Russell Hammond in Almost Famous. Absolutely ... he captured a 1970s rocker better than anyone ever has... 2011 snub: Albert Brooks, Best Supporting Actor in Drive
DaveTV1
..and there it is. Two of the greatest movies of all time. Rourke at the top of his game, for sure, in Angel Heart. He was great in "Year of the Dragon" in 1985, too. Alan Parker has directed some great films other than Angel Heart, and he's never won an Oscar.
