Below is a list of the top 3A DI teams from 2010-2019.  This is a very simple model, and values what you're doing in the playoffs, as that is when the games count.  I am including any 3A DII or 4A DII schools that played at least 4 years in the division.

Point system:

Area win: 2 points

Regional win: 3 points

Quarterfinal win: 4 points

Semifinal win: 5 points

State Championship: 8 points

1. Cameron Yoe - 103 points

3 state championships -  2 state finalist

2. Newton - 89 points

2 state championships - 1 state finalist

3. Brock - 64 points

1 state championship - 1 state finalist

4. Grandview - 58 points

2 state championships

5. Daingerfield - 56 points

1 state championship - 1 state finalist

6. Wall - 49 points

1 state finalist

7. Mineola - 45 points

1 state championship - 1 state finalist

8. Franklin - 39  points

1 state finalist

9. Yoakum - 37 points

1 state finalist

10. Rockdale - 34 points

1 state championship

Others: Shallowater (29), Pottsboro (28), Malakoff (27) ,Hallettsville (27), Crockett (23), Eastland (21)

theres a lot of d2 teams on the list

Correct.  If they played at least 4 years in the division, I did feel like it was necessary to include them.  You could simply eliminate those and bump up the "others" to get a new list.

Why not use 6 instead of 8

The teams that lost the last game (state game )would think it was 3X more important to win state than be state finalist. Only state finalist remember being state finalist 20 years later. I would actually  think state championship winner to be  worth 10 points  instead of 8.
