Spothhb2
Saw the below in the DMN: About five hours after the cutoff lines were announced, McAllen ISD posted on its Twitter page that the enrollment numbers for its schools were incorrect, including three schools that had been placed in 6A. Highland Park ISD athletic director Johnny Ringo started getting phone calls saying that if those three McAllen schools had to move down to 5A, the UIL might adjust the 6A cutoff line and Highland Park could end up moving up to the UIL’s largest classification. Tuesday afternoon, UIL communications specialist Logan Lawrence sent an email saying that the classification cutoff numbers would not change, no matter which classification the McAllen schools end up in. But shortly after that, Lawrence said even that stance had changed, and that while the UIL doesn’t expect to change the cutoff numbers, it’s not completely ruling it out, either. Lawrence said it could be later in the week before anything is finalized.
Mavchamp
I think we could see some interesting things in 5A D2. Lindale is dropping down to 4A Div I Texas High is dropping down to 5A Div II But.... these schools could affect things: Crandall is dropping to 5A Div II Kaufman is dropping down to 4A Div I Mesquite Poteet is dropping to 5A Div II Carrollton Creekview is dropping to 5A Div II Prosper Rock Hill will be in 5A Div II Of course there is Ennis and Corsi in 5A Div II DISD will have a 5A Div II district of it's own (Adamson, Conrad, Jefferson, Kimball, SOC, Spruce) BUT..... Justin Northwest, Midlothian, Road Oak, Frisco Reedy, and Royse City are all leaving 5A Div I and moving up to D1. Potential 5A Div II schools that could end up in East Texas Districts: Crandall Mesquite Poteet Carrollton Creekview Rock Hill Ennis Corsicana North Forney Terrell Forney Texas High Mount Pleasant Sulphur Springs Marshall Hallsville Pine Tree Whitehouse Jacksonville Nacogdoches

It's not like schools have finalized schedules yet. What's funny also is that the UIL didn't put the max numbers of 6A schools they usually do. If they had done those 3 extra schools, like usually, HP would also be 6A.

Yep,. 5A D2 has the largest percentage differential from low to high at 56% other than 2A D1 at 57%. 5A D1 only has a 16% differential from 1900 to 2199. I know the UIL cannot control how many kids are in each school but man, I agree, you give me 600 more kids.... JAX at 1275 and TX High at 1892.... I’m gonna find a lot of football players in that 600.... well, 300 if half are female. I’ve said it already and I’ll say it again. An East Texas 5A Division 2 team will not win a state championship anytime soon. Too many teams in Dallas and Houston at the top end (1800-1900). Sure, TX High won it in 2002 and Kilgore in 2004.... but that was waaaaay before Frisco built 10 high schools with caps at 1800 students. Houston suburbs doing same thing. Not UIL’s fault, just the way it is.
