That was the most 2020 game! A win is a win in this COVID-19 season. Survive and advance. A lot of stuff to get fixed, hopefully some of it is fixable.

The OL had so many penalties that just killed drives. On defense UT had at least two face mask penalties and gave up some first downs on 3rd & long for Tech.

We still almost refuse to line up and just run it straight at teams. When UT was up 17-7 my hope was we’d take the ball and just methodically march it down the field running the ball with our running backs not Ehlinger. 
The OL had several holding calls throughout the game and they were all on pass attempts. Sometimes just simplifying a little bit helps minimize errors. Linemen were struggling in pass blocking so give them a good dose of firing off the snap rather than standing up and backpedaling.

It was ugly of course but don’t let that take away from the comeback Ehlinger led.

Gotta give Tech and Bowman some credit too........they really played a heckuva game.  Just didn't finish against a very good team.

I don't remember if it was late in the 3rd or the 4th quarter when the announcers spoke about how much Tech's offensive staff studied Ash's defense during the summer all the way back to his early years and found where they thought they could take advantage with their receivers. It didn't help that we kept lowering our heads to tackle and missing. I think Tech's coaches saw that and the players did a lot of spinning out of tackles.

Really?  That’s where you want to go?  LSU has 2 starters that returned on D and one of them got some bad weed overnight that hospitalized him...  LSU is going to suck this year and this thread isn’t about LSU.  Without Sam, Texas loses this game by 20.

Agreed. Texas was in position to extend their lead in the first half and control the rest of the game, but had penalties and TTU capitalized. UT would go up by 10 and Tech would being it back to three. That happened four times until Tech finally took the lead. Tech played well and had that boy caught the ball high in the air on the onside kick we’d be talking about a great comeback win by the Red Raiders.

Texas linemen need to get their act together. Kerstetter hurt Texas yesterday.

Very likely so, but that analogy is the same thing as Southern Cal saying without VY they would’ve beaten ‘05 Texas by 20.

Also true.  To be fair, I will call it first game jitters... We know Herman's history with his defense where they can be all world in some games and absolute  in others.  I think the offense is going to be just fine.  The defense is going to be hit or miss, and you guys should just hope the miss is in games that they score a lot.  

Good news about Oklahoma... Spencer Rattler does not look like the QB they sold us on the past few years... Looked like a deer in headlights with even mild pressure.

Heard the announcers say during the game that K-State was missing 5 DB's from the two deep and a starting DT.

I’m tired of Herman bring the underdog.  We know he’s been good as an underdog.  I’m ready for him to figure out how to lead a team as an alpha dog.  That’s not something every coach can do.  The great ones can and it can be a challenge even more so than an underdog.

 

We’ll give Spencer Rattled a few more games before we officially change his name

I thought Sam did an amazing job for the most part. We played without three playmakers in Smith, Whittington, and Black. I keep hearing about this Rugby tackling that Ash is so good at teaching. Pretty sure those guys don't drop their head and close their eyes when they tackle. Let's just say there are plenty of things for the coaches to be riding players about this week.
