Lobo97
But if we're going to play the 'what if' game, then if Ohio State wasn't suspended from postseason play, then the NC in 2012 would have been ND vs Ohio State.

Maybe so. Ohio State didn't play anyone that year, but they did win em all.
eagle34
The Aggies would definitely have won the Big 12 that year. No NC

Their schedule was a joke that year if I remember correctly.

ND beat 3 teams that finished ranked that year...Michigan 24, OU 15, Stanford 7 Ohio State beat 2 teams that finished ranked that year...Nebraska 25, Michigan 24 And we all know that those are 2 programs that if they finish undefeated, they're in.

Once the Irish go undefeated they’re always overrated. I wish the ncaa would mandate joining conferences. Hell, I’d respect Notre Dame if they won the Big East or Mountain West or Sun Belt or Whatever. Most years, most conferences have 2-3 teams that will put up a fight. the issue with Notre Dame is that they want all the money to themselves and they don’t want to share it.

If that is your opinion big boy! I dont feel as confident with that one as I do Johnny Football tearing through the Big 12 that year. As a Texas fan, I would say the Longhorns probably would have won with Colt. I wouldn't go Definitely on that one!

With Notre Dame at 12-0 and A&M not there to beat Bama (meaning they're 13-0), the BCS wouldn't have put A&M in the title game over those teams. Both would've started higher than A&M, would've played tougher schedules than A&M, and have more tradition. The BCS and pollsters wouldn't have put A&M in the BCS title game. So A&M would've been looking at a 13-0 or 12-1 season, depending on who they played in a bowl game, but not a national title. That argument is revisionist and regret mongering, since fear mongering didn't work before A&M left. I was working off the fact that K-State was ranked ahead of Notre Dame from Week 4 until they lost after Week 11. I think A&M would've been the same. Remember, it was the BCS at the time. If we assume one of those teams would've lost elsewhere then we're introducing all sorts of what if scenarios that may or may not have played out, including A&M going undefeated in the Big XII. When A&M smacked the Big XII Champions OU, they were firing on all cylinders in a way they weren't early in the season. Who knows if the teams had played early in the season what might've happened. Let me throw in a BAMA fan’s 2 cents: the loss to the Aggies HELPED BAMA win the national championship. Follow me here. The week prior to the loss to A&M, BAMA was outplayed at LSU in the second half in a game that Les Miles and Barney Chavous served up on a silver platter. We pulled a rabbit out of our butt and won a game we should have lost. A week later, A&M came to Bryant-Denny and outplayed us as well, only they finished the job. If Desheazor Everett doesn’t make the interception that killed a potential scoring drive in the final minutes and we win that one, I don’t think there’s any way we beat Georgia in the SEC Championship Game. That would have sent UGA to maul the Irish instead of BAMA. The loss to A&M proved to our players that they could be beat if they didn’t give 100% effort. I said after we donkey stomped the Irish into the swamp in Miami that we owed the Aggies big time. I stand by that.
