Brutal bracket. No easy path there!

Possible Longview road to a title: College Station, Lancaster, Denton Ryan, Highland Park, Colleyville Heritage, then Cedar Park.

Every single one of those teams are good in some way, shape or form.

I mean Ryan...outside of NS...I'm not sure there is anyone in the state beating them regardless of class. Maybe Westlake.

And that's a rarity. Lake Travis was like that when they were in the 2nd largest class.

They're just loaded and well coached, especially since they picked up 4* transfer Bear Alexander.

Man I’m gonna be so happy since most of them are graduating after this year lol

Last weeks scores:

Bolfing completed 13 of 15 passes for 244 yards and four touchdowns during a 49-22 win over Bryan Rudder.  The top 4 in this district look to be set at this point.  Montgomery continues to impress and their game against Lake Creek at the end of the season will likely be for the 3rd spot.

Current Rankings

1.  Huntsville       6-0,  3-0

2.  A&M Consolidated   6-1,  2-1

3.  Lake Creek    5-2,  2-1

4.  Montgomery   4-2,  2-0

5.  Bryan Rudder  4-3,  0-3

Mavchamp.... interested in your thoughts about Texas High & Whitehouse matchup.

Not even close.. 23 of Whitehouse's 30 points were directly off of Marshall turnovers(5 all together) . WH scored 14 points on defense from a bad snap and a scoop n score fumble. Once Marshall stopped shooting themselves in the foot it was a close game.

Marshall had more potential than WH and even PT. It's all about execution, discipline and drive. Which we finally saw for the first time since non district in the second half. Defense basically held WH to 7 points. Texas High wins comfortably.

Won’t even be competitive IMHO.
Texas High will roll.
Clearly the best in 9-5A and it’s not even close.

WH vs PT will be a good one though.

It’s all going to come down to Nac Vs Marshall for the final playoff slot.

Like every game this season... depends which offense shows up that week.

When they are clicking.....they can play with anyone   When they aren’t.......they can lose to anyone.

Jekyll and Hyde offensively.  Which is sad... because we have a pretty good defense.

Big game.  But we both got business to take care of before then.

Who will earn the right to get smacked by Huntsville or AMC in the first round???

Not sure you guys can beat T High, but Marshall is very beatable. Like, not very good. Defensively, their athletes give them a chance. Offensively, they are lost.

Not expecting to beat TH, we just get to play them with nothing to lose. Teams can be dangerous with nothing to lose. I just like that we have the chance to be in a win an in Situation. The last few years we have been eliminated by now.

Longview basketball opens their 2020-21 campaign today at North Mesquite. Going to try and make it.

Lobos, fresh off three straight seasons of 20+ wins years, are still looking for their first playoff win since 2014.

Longview is 17-7 all-time against the Stallions. This will be the first ever non-district meeting.

In a throwback to 1987, seems like a few teams in this district (Nac, MP, WH, Marshall) are more adept on the defensive side of the ball. Love to see it, especially in this day and age.

our defense has played well all year, our offense continues to put us in bad situations.

Not true. Except for last year, Nacogdoches played for a playoff spot the last game of the year for 6 years in a row under the previous coaching staff. They just did not always win the game for a spot in the playoffs. For what the present staff was left least year, playoffs should have been a sure thing.

I agree the previous coaching staff should have been in the playoffs from 2013 to at least 2016. Made it in 2013 and 2014 Losses to JT and Jax at home with a chance at the playoffs in 2015 and 2016 was disappointing. The 2015 and 2016 teams were very talented just fell short. I know the offensive coordinator left Nac. either 15 or 16 and then came back. Offense was a little more conservative the year he was gone. Say what you like about Baby Reyes, I did like his offense. Much more explosive and he has been pretty successful at Justin NW and now at Center.

2017 1-9 and eliminated early, 2018 made it as the 4  and was rewarded with Huntsville. Last year eliminated with 3 straight district losses to start the season.

I am just saying it is nice to still have something to play for this late in the season, definitely makes the season more fun.

---------------

District 8-5A DIV II

ZONE A
Ennis (3-0)(6-0)
Royse City (2-1) (4-2)
Crandall (1-2) (4-3)
Forney (0-3) (0-9)

ZONE B
North Forney (3-0) (7-0)
Greenville (2-1) (4-2)
Sulphur Springs (1-2) (1-4)
Corsicana (0-3) (2-6)

Ennis and North Forney clinched their respective zones with convincing wins Friday night.  Royse City and Greenville punched their playoff tickets with their wins as well.

Crandall, Forney, Sulphur Springs, and Corsicana have seen their seasons come to an end.

Now it's time for the crossover games to bein in order to determine playoff seeding for 1-4.

Ennis and North Forney will face off the determine the district championship, while the loser will take the runner up position.

Greenville and Royse City will battle it out for the #3 and #4 slots.

The games are slated for this coming Friday, but they could move the games to November 27th or December 4th if needed.  Both weeks will otherwise be bye weeks until the playoffs start.

District 9-5A DIV II
Texas High (7-0) (4-0)
Whitehouse (7-0) (4-0)
Pine Tree (5-1-1) (3-1)
Nacogdoches (3-3) (2-2)
Marshall (3-4) (1-3)
Mount Pleasant (3-4) (1-3)
Jacksonville (1-6) (1-3)
Hallsville (0-6) (0-4)

Texas High continues their domination of the district with a shockingly easy win over Pine Tree.  Whitehouse kept pace with the Tigers by holding off a fierce Marshall comeback to remain unbeaten.  The Pirates dropped to third place with the loss.  Nacogdoches jumped into fourth place with their win over Jacksonville.  Marshall finds themselves in unfamiliar territory in fifth place with Jax and MP.  Hallsville remains winless.

Texas High and WH could be setting up for a district championship showdown in the regular season finale.... but first the Wildcats will have to take care of PT this coming week in a monster game.  PT needs a win in hopes of hosting a playoff game.  Nacogdoches and Marshall each control their own playoff destinies without help.  Nac has Hallsville, Texarkana, and Marshall remaining on their schedule.  Marshall has MP, Hallsville and Nac.  It could come down to the season finale for the Dragons and the Mavs.  Jax and MP still have a chance to make the playoffs too, but they would need to win AND get some help along the way.  Hallsville is all but eliminated.

District 7-5A DIV I
Highland Park (5-0) (3-0)
McKinney North (3-4) (3-1)
Longview (5-2) (2-1)
Tyler (2-4) (2-1)
Sherman (2-5) (1-1)
Wylie East (1-5) (0-4)
West Mesquite (0-7) (0-3)

Highland Park took sole possession of first place with a convincing win over McNorth, who fell to second place, a half game head of Longview.  The Lobos are sitting in third place because of Sherman dodging (no contesting) the Lobos "due to Covid"... even though they were cleared the day of the game.  How convenient.  Tyler got a big win over Wylie East to jump into the #4 slot.

While highly unlikely.......should the no contest between Longview and Sherman become an issue, the district will use head to head Vs. common opponents to determine seeding.  If a tie remains... it would go to point differential.

Tyler and Sherman could be headed towards a big showdown for the #4 slot.

McNorth and will have a showdown Vs. the Lobos for the #2 slot in a week.... provided they take care of Sherman this week.

District 8-5A DIV I
Magnolia (7-1) (6-0)
College Station (6-1) (4-1)
Magnolia West (5-2) (4-1)
New Caney (4-3) (3-2)
Porter (5-3) (3-3)
Waller (2-5) (2-3)
Lufkin (3-4) (2-3)
Cleveland (1-7) (0-6)
Caney Creek (0-7) (0-5)

Magnolia took care of business with a nice win over crosstown rival West, who dropped into a tie for second place with College Station.

College Station continues their ascension in the standings.... their lone loss to first place Magnolia.

West and CS have a huge matchup pending..... the winner will host a playoff game... while the loser will have to hit the road in the first round.

Then....things get a little murky for the final playoff spot.

New Caney took sole possession of fourth place with their win Friday night.  However, they still Magnolia and Mag West remaining on their schedule after a showdown with Waller this week.

Porter remains in the conversation, but they too have a tough row to hoe with Mag West and Mag to close out the season.

Waller still has a shot at the playoffs... with a big showdown with NC.  Next they have College Station and close out against Lufkin.

Lufkin's long playoff streak is on the line....but they may have the best road to get in with Cleveland, Caney Creek, and Waller.  LP has the tiebreaker over NC.  It could come down to the regular season finale Vs. Waller.

Clear as mud?

------------------

Week 8 Games:

8-5A- DIV I
Waller Vs. New Caney
Cleveland Vs. Lufkin
Caney Creek Vs. College Station
Magnolia West Vs. Porter
Magnolia- OFF

Waller Vs. New Caney is the game of the week.  The winner puts themselves in a better place for the playoff chase, the loser finds themselves outside and needing a lot of help getting in.

Lufkin should make easy work of Cleveland.

College Station and West should also have wins this week.

---

8-5A DIV II
Ennis Vs. North Forney
Greenville Vs. Royse City

Ennis and NF is the game of the week as they will battle it out for the district championship.  Both will host playoff games when the postseason gets started.

Meanwhile Greenville is headed to the playoffs for the second year in a row, but they will have to face off against Royse City in the regular season finale to determine the #3 and #4 slots.

---

9-5A DIV II
Whitehouse Vs. Pine Tree
Mount Pleasant Vs. Marshall
Texas High Vs. Jacksonville
Nacogdoches Vs. Hallsville

WH Vs. PT is the game of the week.  The winner till take sole possession of  second place, while the loser will settle i into third.  That's HUGE....  and the difference between HOSTING a playoff game and hitting the road for a playoff game.  The Wildcats would also like a win to keep their district title hopes alive.

MP and Marshall face off in a MUST WIN game for both.  The loser will fall out of the playoff picture.  The winner stays alive.... particularly the Mavericks, who still control their own destiny.

Nac needs a big road win to stay ahead of Marshall in the standings...... Hallsville is searching for any positives.  This game is still questionable because of COVID issues with the Bobcats.

Texas High makes the longest road trip in the district as they travel to the Tomato Bowl to take on Jacksonville.

---

Sherman Vs. McKinney North
Wylie East Vs. West Mesquite
Tyler Vs. Highland Park
Longview- OFF

Sherman Vs. McNorth is the game of the week.  The winner will be in a happy place for the playoffs, while the loser could find themselves in a bind.  McNorth needs the win since they won't be lucky enough to dodge the Lobos.

Tyler has a tall order Vs. HP.

Wylie East and West Mesquite are playing for pride.

w12 Crosby / f11 Galena Park
r9 Pine Tree or Whitehouse / t10 Lake Creek

9-5A finish could get very interesting!!

Texas High is going to run away with the district for sure, Whitehouse is in great position for the 2nd spot.

PT-Questions about QB health could put PT into the fight for the 3-4 spot. PT losing out would bring in tie breakers. Maybe even losing 2 of 3.

Nac-Controls own destiny and can lose to TH and still make it with a win at Marshall- MP winning out and a Marshall victory over Nac could have a 3 way tie. With MP/Nac/Marshall-Nac is Plus 4 right now.

Nac's magic # is 2-A Nac win in a played game coupled with a Marshall loss clinches for the Dragons. (this is counting the Hallsville game as a forfeit, which seems likely)

Marshall can lose to MP and beat Nac and get in if they don't lose to anyone else.

MP has to win out and hope for a Marshall win.

Jax has to win out but losing H2H might have Jax already out.

or none of it could happen and it would just come down to Nac/Marshall win and in at the end of the season.

District 10-5A II  Update –

This weeks scores:

Bryan Rudder 35  Fulshear  14

Montgomery  38   A&M Consolidated 14

Lake Creek  46   Lamar Consolidated  0

The big game of the week saw Montgomery easily handle A&M Consolidated.  I’m not surprised that the Bears won, but didn’t expect such a convincing victory.  The top 4 in this district are set at this point.  The order is still to be determined as there is a big game matchup on each of the next 3 Friday nights.   Montgomery has an opportunity to win the District if they can knock off Huntsville.

Current Rankings

1.  Huntsville       6-0,  3-0

2.  Montgomery   5-2,  3-0

3.  A&M Consolidated   6-2,  2-2

4.  Lake Creek    6-2,  3-1

--------------------------------------

5.  Bryan Rudder  5-3,  1-3

6.  Fulshear     4-3,  0-3

7.  Lamar Consolidated  0-7,  0-3

Big Games This week:

Lake Creek at Huntsville (@Madisonville)   – Lake Creek is one of 3 teams that could still win this District but will have to defeat undefeated Huntsville to have that chance.

Remaining Big Games:

11/20     Lake Creek @ Huntsville

11/27     Huntsville @ Montgomery

12/4       Montgomery @ Lake Creek
