Mount Pleasant clinched the district championship for the second year in a row with a big win over Sulphur Springs.  The The Tigers secure the # seed, while Sulphur Springs needs a win Friday over Hallsville to keep themsevles one game ahead of Longview.  The Lobos closed out the regular season in the #4 seed, but can tie SS for third if the Bobcats can get the upset over the Wildcats.   Hallsville needs a win or a Texas High loss to Sulphur Springs to wrap up the #4 slot.  Texas High needs a win over SS and Hallsville loss to Mount Pleasant to force a tie for the final playoff spot.

Huntsville is rolling to the district championship, but Jacksonville is taking care of business for the #2 slot.  Nac and Lufkin are knotted up for third.  Whitehouse is starting to slip out of the playoff race, while Tyler has appeared to fallen off a cliff.   Couple of big games Friday night as LP and Nac face off in what could decide who the #3 and and who is the #4 seed in the playoffs.  Jacksonville and Huntsville meet up again.....  a Hornet win would all but clinch the district title for Huntsville, while a Jacksonville win could keep title hopes alive for the Indians.

Wow.  Seems like a strange move. I know he isn't the AD at WH. But won't be at Forney either. Probably more money though

Down to 1 In Forney

With that kind of talent how far did they go in the playoffs last year?

5-5.  Very disappointing season without a doubt.

Poor offensive line play and turnovers doomed us.

I'm curious Mavchamp when is the last time Marshall didn't make the playoffs in either basketball or football in the same year?  Seems like they have always been able to make it in one of those two sports even if the other was down.

I’d have to do some digging.... but I would guess late 90s.

The regular season came to a close Friday with MP claiming their second consecutive district championship.  They finish the regular season (23-0) as they head into the playoffs next week.  SS will enter the post-season as the #2 seed, while Longview and Hallsville will round out the playoff teams for 15-5A.  Very strange seeing Texarkana and Marshall at the bottom of the standings.....they are traditionally competing for the district title.  Congrats to MP and all the playoff teams next week.

As soon as the match-ups and games are set, I'll get them posted.

The district ended in tri-champions between SS, MP, and Hallsville.  SS gets the #1 seed due to their head to head sweep of Hallsville and splitting with MP.  The Tigers get the #2 slot while Hallsville takes the #3 slot.  Texas High gets the final playoff spot.  They will await the final standings of 16-5A to set up playoff matches for next week.

Huntsville clinched no less than a tie for the district championship with their win over Jacksonville.  The hornets can clinch the title outright with a win on Tuesday.  Nac's big win over rival Lufkin propelled the Dragons into a scond place tie with Jacksonville... making playoff seeding very important for each.    Meanwhile..... LP and WH are locked up in a tie for the fourth and final playoff spot.

The playoff teams have been decided.... the seeding still has a few things to be settled.  Huntsville has clinched the district championship and Nacogdoches has clinched the #4 seed headed into the post season.  Jacksonville and Lufkin are tied up for the #2 seed.  They will have a tie breaking game TBD for the #2 and #3 seed headed into the playoffs.

The district so far has been a story of mostly haves and have-nots as Longview, MP, and PT are all undefeated at (2-0) while Hallsville and Texas High are each winless.  Marshall and SS have split records thus far.  Making out to be a pretty good race.... especially between state ranked MP and Longview.  Can't count out PT though... they have tons of soccer history of their own.

98-99 when we were screwed out of the playoffs by a bad call in Lufkin and a very surprising Tyler Lee team?  And just weren’t good in basketball?

That’s probably a pretty good guess.

Definitely a tough year on the court.  Haven’t seen them struggle like this in 20 years.  Got some good talent coming up though.  Could be an interesting offseason.
