That’s amazing that as terrible as our softball girls have been they will still make the playoffs smh. I better not see a softball playoff shirt. This isn’t anything to celebrate. Lobos clinch a playoff berth for the first time since 2013, and will be the No. 2 seed out of the district. I can't say these boys are the most talented Lobo squad to take the diamond, but they've got moxie. I enjoy watching them play. I don't know if they'll be any more than a one-and-done in the post-season, but they'll dang sure play hard.

Some good games the next few days if you are close to Whitehouse. ----------------------------------------------------- DISTRICT 15-5A BASEBALL Hallsville (10-1), (22-5) Longview (8-3), (20-6-1) Texas High (7-5), (13-7-1) Marshall (6-5), (12-12) Sulphur Springs (6-5), (10-14) Pine Tree (1-10), (4-19) Mount Pleasant (1-10), (7-16-1) GAME 13 Longview beat Marshall 5-1 Texas High beat Mount Pleasant 17-2 Hallsville beat Pine Tree 11-1 (Monday) Sulphur Springs- OFF Hallsville has clinched the district championship. Longview has clinched the #2 slot and Texarkana has clinched the #3 slot. The fourth and final slot is still up for grabs between Marshall and Sulphur Springs. Marshall closes out the season at Mount Pleasant while Sulphur Springs closes out against Hallsville. A Mav win over MP coupled with a SS loss to Hallsville will give the final playoff slot to Marshall. A Marshall loss and a SS win will give the slot to the Wildcats. If both Marshall and SS win.... or lose.... they will need a showdown to determine who makes the playoffs. -----------------------------------------------------DISTRICT 16-5A BASEBALL Whitehouse (11-2), (22-5-1) Lufkin (10-3), (21-6-1) Nacogdoches (9-4), (22-7) Huntsville (6-7), (13-16) Jacksonville (3-10), (11-16) Tyler (0-13), (8-20) Games 13 Whitehouse beat Huntsville 4-3 Nacogdoches beat Jacksonville 8-1 Lufkin beat Tyler 17-0 This district is loaded with good baseball teams. WH still sits at the top with a one game lead over LP. Nac sits in third and Huntsville clinched the #4 slot with Jacksonville's loss on Friday. Each team has two more games.... and the race for 1-2-3 should be a good one. LP is 1 game behind WH.... Nac is one game behind LP. Looks to be a photo finish as each awaits the other to slip up. Mavchamp
Big games this week.... Tuesday: Marshall Vs. Mount Pleasant: A Marshall win and a SS loss gives Marshall the 4 seed. A loss and a SS win gives the Wildcats the 4 seed. If both win...or lose... a tie breaker will be needed to determine the playoff team. Sulphur Springs Vs. Hallsville- A Win and a Marshall loss gives SS the 4 seed. A loss and a Marshall win gives the Mavericks the 4 seed. If both win...or lose... a tie breaker will be needed to determine the playoff team. Longview Vs. Pine Tree- This game means nothing really. Playing for pride. ----------- Whitehouse Vs. Tyler Tuesday and Friday: WH has a one game lead over Lufkin for the district lead. One more win guarantees the Wildcats at least a share of the district championship. A sweep of Tyler gives them the title outright. Lufkin Vs. Nacogdoches Tuesday and Friday: Lufkin trails WH by one game. But LP also only has a 1 game lead over Nac. This makes the series HUGE for both. It could not only determine the 1/2 seed... but possibly the 2/3 seed. Huntsville Vs. Jacksonville Tuesday and Friday: This series means little. Huntsville has clinched the #4 seed. Jacksonville is has been eliminated. ----- Looks like Mother Nature is going to be difficult tonight. Hopefully most of the games will get played. Mavchamp
The Sulphur Springs newspaper is reporting that Marshall clinched the fourth playoff spot due to the head-to-head records between Texas High, Marshall, and SS. All three ended the season tied for third at (7-5). Texas High takes the #3 seed with a (3-1) record Vs Marshall and SS. They split with the Mavs. Marshall takes the #4 seed with a (2-2) record. They split with both THS and SS. SS ends in fifth place with a (1-3) record. This will send THS into a series Vs Lufkin. Marshall will take on Whitehouse. Hallsville will take on Huntsville. Huntsville girls are very good although the rest of the district was pretty average. Probably the only win 16-5A will get over 15-5A. On another note Mav, Lufkin baseball is 23-6-1. I know that's insignificant in the long run.
