Mount Pleasant clinched the district championship for the second year in a row with a big win over Sulphur Springs.  The The Tigers secure the # seed, while Sulphur Springs needs a win Friday over Hallsville to keep themsevles one game ahead of Longview.  The Lobos closed out the regular season in the #4 seed, but can tie SS for third if the Bobcats can get the upset over the Wildcats.   Hallsville needs a win or a Texas High loss to Sulphur Springs to wrap up the #4 slot.  Texas High needs a win over SS and Hallsville loss to Mount Pleasant to force a tie for the final playoff spot.

Mt Pleasant 9-3
Hallsville 9-3
Texas High 8-4
Marshall 5-7
Longview 3-9
Pine Tree 0-12

The distirct ended in tri-champions between SS, MP, and Hallsville.  SS gets the #1 seed due to it's head to head thanks to sweeping Hallsville and splitting with MP.  The Tigers get the #2 slot while Hallsville takes the #3 slot.  Texas High gets the final playoff spot.  They will await the final standings of 16-5A to set up playoff matches for next week.

Game 6 Feb 2
Huntsville beat Whitehouse 54-41
Jacksonville beat Nacogdoches 56-42
Lufkin beat Tyler 65-46

Huntsville is rolling to the district championship, but Jacksonville is taking care of business for the #2 slot.  Nac and Lufkin are knotted up for third.  Whitehouse is starting to slip out of the playoff race, while Tyler has appeared to fallen off a cliff.   Couple of big games Friday night as LP and Nac face off in what could decide who the #3 and and who is the #4 seed in the playoffs.  Jacksonville and Huntsville meet up again.....  a Hornet win would all but clinch the district title for Huntsville, while a Jacksonville win could keep title hopes alive for the Indians.

Game 8 Feb 2

Huntsville beat Whitehouse 41-19
Lufkin beat Tyler 60-44

Nacogdoches got the upset of the night with their win over Jacksonville.  The win pulled the Lady Dragons into a tie for third place with Lukfin.  The loss officially handed the district championship to Huntsville.   This sets up a monster game Friday night between LP and Nac.  The winner will claim the #3 slot and the loser will take #4 with one game remaining.  WH is all but eliminated and Tyler has already been eliminated.

The race is just getting started with MP as a heavy favorite for the district championship.... but Longview lurking just behind the Tigers.  After that... the race for #3 and #4 could be a wild and crazy one between Marshall, SS, and PT.  However.... SS, Hallsville, and THS are off to slow starts at 0-2.

Well "those" you spoke with really weren't paying very close attention then. While it wasn't a large score disparity it wasn't really that close of a call especially statistically.  Marshall

Someone from Whitehouse complaining about class and sportsmanship... That's irony. Sports or not.

Why be a douche about it?  Nac doesn’t pick their district.  They compete where they are put... and they dominate.  just say congrats and move on.  Don’t see the point in trying to lessen thei

With that kind of talent how far did they go in the playoffs last year?

5-5.  Very disappointing season without a doubt.

Poor offensive line play and turnovers doomed us.

I'm curious Mavchamp when is the last time Marshall didn't make the playoffs in either basketball or football in the same year?  Seems like they have always been able to make it in one of those two sports even if the other was down.

I’d have to do some digging.... but I would guess late 90s.

The regular season came to a close Friday with MP claiming their second consecutive district championship.  They finish the regular season (23-0) as they head into the playoffs next week.  SS will enter the post-season as the #2 seed, while Longview and Hallsville will round out the playoff teams for 15-5A.  Very strange seeing Texarkana and Marshall at the bottom of the standings.....they are traditionally competing for the district title.  Congrats to MP and all the playoff teams next week.

As soon as the match-ups and games are set, I'll get them posted.

The district ended in tri-champions between SS, MP, and Hallsville.  SS gets the #1 seed due to their head to head sweep of Hallsville and splitting with MP.  The Tigers get the #2 slot while Hallsville takes the #3 slot.  Texas High gets the final playoff spot.  They will await the final standings of 16-5A to set up playoff matches for next week.

Huntsville clinched no less than a tie for the district championship with their win over Jacksonville.  The hornets can clinch the title outright with a win on Tuesday.  Nac's big win over rival Lufkin propelled the Dragons into a scond place tie with Jacksonville... making playoff seeding very important for each.    Meanwhile..... LP and WH are locked up in a tie for the fourth and final playoff spot.

The playoff teams have been decided.... the seeding still has a few things to be settled.  Huntsville has clinched the district championship and Nacogdoches has clinched the #4 seed headed into the post season.  Jacksonville and Lufkin are tied up for the #2 seed.  They will have a tie breaking game TBD for the #2 and #3 seed headed into the playoffs.

The district so far has been a story of mostly haves and have-nots as Longview, MP, and PT are all undefeated at (2-0) while Hallsville and Texas High are each winless.  Marshall and SS have split records thus far.  Making out to be a pretty good race.... especially between state ranked MP and Longview.  Can't count out PT though... they have tons of soccer history of their own.

That’s probably a pretty good guess.

Definitely a tough year on the court.  Haven’t seen them struggle like this in 20 years.  Got some good talent coming up though.  Could be an interesting offseason.

Tyler High has a district win against Jacksonville a couple games ago.  However, they lost to WH last night.  Probably won't win another district game.

Not shocked, been saying for last couple yrs that basketball program needed a new coach.

As I stated before, Nac's District in swimming is a cakewalk. Having only 1 advance when you dominated the District proves this. However, good luck to the 200 Free Team.
