It's hard to do. Argyle puts together a legit contender, sometimes a favorite, year-in and year-out. But it's really hard to win a state championship. Not a bad comparison. Eagles have just always had a tough time finishing the big game. Losing title game in 2005 to Newton. Losing title in 2011 to Wimberley. Losing title in 2014 to Navasota**. Losing 2015 to La Vega in a sort of weird, wacky, lapse-of-judgement heartbreaking way. They've had no shortage of high-caliber teams capable of getting there. Have just struggled on the big stage thus far. **No one has a time machine, but if the 2014 state championship had been played with today's replay rules, Argyle would have beaten the Rattlers.
