So does anybody really know if Marshall not coming out for the national anthem was a protest or simply a timing issue?

Not a protest.

They simply didn’t want whatever they did to be displayed for public debate.

No win situation. They kneel.... some are offended. They don’t kneel, others are offended.

So they stayed in the lockeroom and played the anthem before they came out on the field.

That was reported by the information director at MISD, Mr Weaver.

Cant please everyone. So they just stayed out of it.

Hope they tell Burris that if he has open space to run, do it as will keep the defense off guard and open things up for the pass.

Burris without a doubt is the most improved player from last season at first glance.

Ive been saying this for a long time:  he’s one of the hardest working kids I’ve ever seen.  He deserves all the good things that come his way.

That plan didnt work for them. By not coming out that in itself was a form of protest (in many people opinion). Even EF's Scott Ford (former Mav) took a shot at Marshall with his facebook post. I think this could get ugly!

IMHO.....Someone is stirring the pot because they are bitter they didn’t get a chance at the position of the person he’s taking a shot at.

He can go eat a corn dog as far as I care.  EF can keep him.  Sounds like he found his niche there.

He hasn’t been well liked everywhere he’s been.

I saw his true colors when he was at Nac and he faced Marshall.

Bitter.  Petty he would take a shot at Coach G.

Anyone trying to make it bigger than it is needs to get a life. It was simply an attempt to diffuse a social hot-topic by refusing to publicly display anything that could be scrutinized either way.

I’m amazed how some people are so enraged by this perceived disrespect towards the SYMBOLS of our freedom like the flag and the anthem...

Yet they are silent when politicians crap all over our constitution, which is actually the foundation of our freedom.

Ridiculous.

This AD needs to HC a college team...

Speaking of @Mavchamp, did you see who the new interm head coach is at Southern Miss?

This was the best choice.  Period.  Being on the field for the National Anthem used to only be a thing for the NFL during the SB...  Then it became a regular thing, now people protest it and it becomes divisive... The best way To prevent the conflict is to completely avoid it.  Anyone who gets pissed about that needs to go eat poop and kick rocks.

EXACTLY.

It's absolutely a no-win situation for the players or the staff.

If anyone kneels.... they get crucified for disrespect of the flag.

If they force them to stand..... they get crucified for forcing them to do something they do not believe in.

Soooo.... just close down any public display.

Of course..... in today's world... even an attempt to avoid controversy still causes it.

And some very bitter folks stirring the pot because they can't get a job they apparently think should be handed to them solely based on their name.

Kick rocks.

Heck yeah..... talk about making a big jump.

From D-3 to FBS in light speed time.

Good for him.  He seems like a great guy and a great coach.
