Has Pres Trump been good or bad for Christianity in America? On the one hand I believe he has been a fierce defender of evangelical Christianity in many ways...on the other hand I believe he has weaponized evangelical Christianity for his own benefit and that is driving a growing hostility against Christianity/Christians. Thoughts?

I would blame the downward trend in admitted Christians, to the same institutions that shape young minds to hate capitalism.  Our colleges & Universities, and even some public high schools, have placed indoctrination above education.   Does Trump use Christians, or is he our only hope?   I certainly can’t vote for a current Dem candidate.  They booed God at their 2012 Convention.  Call it their “coming out of the closet” moment.  They now hail Satan.  There is a battle going on now for mankind’s soul.  Good vs evil.

Trump - not the person I’d have picked in this kind of fight.   Great President, but morally questionable.  Still, he’s all we’ve got.  Just my .02 cents worth.

The hostility against Christians started long before President Trump, and it has only gathered steam.  At least President Trump wants to protect Christians rights.

For whatever reason, most right wingers seem to back anyone who says they're Christian whether their fruits show it or not. Christians are the easiest people to fool unfortunately. To answer the question, he's not the first nor will he be the last to weaponize Christianity so I don't think he's changed much of what people think about Christianity.

See this is our dilemma. We know he has many many shortcomings. As all of us do. The problem is even if there was an economic policy or foreign policy I happened to agree with that a current Democratic nominee proposed I couldn’t  make myself vote for them if they supported certain social issues I can and will not bend for. I want welfare reform. That would never happen with Democrats. Let me explain. I’m not talking about making it harder or making cuts. I’m talking about using it to better peoples lives. The black family unit has been torn apart. By design. If a couple wants to get married, they get benefits cut. Why? To keep fathers and mothers from being husbands and wives. That’s why. No cuts but in fact you get rewarded. Recreating the black family unit will pay dividends for them and the country for generations to come. I believe deep down a man wants to use his hands, back, and mind to provide for his family. Well if you get a job your benefits get cut. No incentive. Keeps men from reaching their potential. No in fact if a man or woman gets work, we won’t pull the rug out from under you. We will build you up. You’ll continue to receive those benefits for a year or two. Get a nest egg built up for your family where you don’t need the governments handouts. Long rant and off topic but I really believe if welfare were changed into something like this, the black family unit would rise to a level not seen since MLK.

While I agree that we need social welfare reforms, we need to create a system that rewards them for leaving the programs and being able to support themselves. When FDR, LBJ, and the rest of the progressives started these programs, their entire reasoning was to get these people dependent upon the government, and then you can always say the other guy is going to take it away to gain votes and power. Because if these programs were really going to help people, don't you think that it would have by now? Nope, generations of families living on the government dime.

Just this morning, the American Taxpayer has spent over 50 million dollars to put homeless people in hotels--We can place them in hotels to stop the spread of corona, but we can't build or find public housing or shelters for them during regular times. This is NOT money well spent. This is just politicians throwing our money away.

So yes, we need welfare reform, including social security--which is NO LONGER secure--to make the programs entice people to get off of them, not stay on for generations.

I thought what I proposed did just that. Recreate the family unit and give people who find jobs time enough to get on their feet before pulling benefits.

I understand that you feel and believe that, but as long as states and the federal government keep allowing benefits to single folks, marriage rates will continue to fall. And while we both want the same thing, but have different thoughts of how it should occur. Your belief that many will find financial security when married is a positive--but on my end, I feel there has to be an "end game" or result that they have to prepare for. You don't want to cut benefits if married, I don't see that as a positive, unless there is a program that helps stabilize the family and prepares them to leave the social welfare program.

And if you don't have limits set in place prior to a marriage or starting any social welfare program--then people will continue to take advantage of it--just ask those families that have been on the programs since LBJ's "Great Society".

The Democrat/Socialist Party is worse.  They openly condemn God.  I'd rather vote for someone who says they are Christian and actually backs Christians than a candidate that says he is Christian too, but openly attacks Christian values.
