We all know you wore a “mong” for your wife in the 80s... (that’s a man thong)

The 2 downvotes here are 💩 because you are absolutely right.  The only true close contact should be direct contact from an immediate family member.  And I am an “anti-masker” but I want my team to play ball!

Wait, what, im poo cause i downvoted the last part of his comment?? Is that what im reading, help me out @Eagleborn

You know those types of people who think the government has people follow you, puts cameras in your shower? Or wears foil on their head think it will break up the signal?

This is them.

No, I think he is right.  And I don’t think he is being an ass with it.  Not understanding the rule with the masks and the difference in contacts and exposure can be easy to misinterpret.  Took us from May through July for the UIL to give us something solid, then some help from Government health officials for us to figure out that wearing a mask, with an infected person wearing a mask “protects” you, keeping everyone eligible.  This whole thing has been a pain in the ass for me.  I’ve been talking nothing but COVID with health professionals and my school administrators since March to put the safest plan together with my AD for our athletic program.  It’s a lot of information that takes massive swings that distort everything that was once real...  it’s a mess.

each school administration is going to do what is best for them.  I am not going to question the motivation behind shutting any of it down.  I just know that there is a path to play football.  And like I said in another thread, exposures is harder to navigate for most 3A and below schools, the wrong 2 kids get quarantined and your team is screwed.

After I posted this I went and took a shower and thought about our obstacles so far...

our exposures aren’t happening at school.  They are happening outside of school, with girlfriends, with a 75 kid birthday party (stupid as hell right?), parents sick at work.

this isn’t happening from school Officials ignoring rules or recommendations or safety issues, it’s happening from stupid kids doing stupid stuff most of the time or exposure to a parent who happens to catch it at work.

I am not trying to be an “” or blaming the Coaches. I actually think the mask mandates are ridiculous BUT that’s the rules of this ignorant game. TEA, UIL, The Health Department ect... will all ask the same question when you have a positive case in order to determine or trace “close contact”. “Were you within 6 ft of anyone for more than 15 minutes WITHOUT A FACE COVERING”. If the answer to that question is “No” then the only person who is unable to participate is the person with the confirmed case. Anyone who answers “Yes” must list everyone they have been around in the 48hrs prior or 10 days since the person developed symptoms or tested positive if they were a-symptomatic. Everyone they were around without a mask is quarantined for 14 days. You can find all of this information on the TEA, UIL, CDC, websites if you look.

If you “by God” won’t let someone tell you to wear a mask that’s fine but don’t turn around and say “the kids need to play this is ridiculous blah, blah, blah”.
If you want to score a touchdown you must cross the goal line because that’s the rules of the game. It might be the dumbest rule ever but I guarantee no matter how much you disagree or point out how wrong the rule is you are not getting a touchdown without crossing the goal line.
If you want to cancel games then just keep “sticking it to the man” and don’t wear the mask because at some point a kid or a coach will contract the virus and “the man” is going to stick it to your team.
Again, I am not pro mask or wanting to lose my freedoms but if someone tells me my kids can play football if I wear a mask then I will exercise my freedom and CHOOSE to wear a mask.

The edict of mask-wearing is just another type of psychological control so that TPTB (the powers that be) can continue their plans to turn the USA into a socialistic nation and thereby totally wipeout the middle class.  No middle class means no Constitutional rights, no protected freedoms, no justice, no opportunity for wealth and growth......socialism.  State governments and the school systems have already been operating under this "politically correct" ideology for over a decade now.......but it takes a long time to convert the masses.  Indoctrination starts at the educational institutions and local governments, then slowly eats away at the fabric of our society like a cancer. I do not trust those in charge of our educational systems and local governments in this nation any longer.  All of you " educators" are working in a socialistic-run system at this very moment. Try to do anything novel and see what happens to your position and paycheck........you are a slave to the system you are a part of.  You have no voice and are constantly being watched......your actions are constantly under review.  If you even try to suggest anything novel or different......you will be reprimanded, demoted, or fired.

If you can smell a f a r t then the masks ain’t stopping Covid. Ridiculous to actually think a mask will prevent the spread.

I agree 100% but if I have to mask into the stadium to my seat I’m gonna to watch my boy. I hate mask and the whole ignorance of their use.

Whats "stupid" is giving up your freedoms because the powers that be tell you to for a virus that has just around half the death rate of the common flu.  That my friend is stupid.

2019-2020 flu season  55000 hospitalizations 2900 deaths

Current covid 678000 cases 14000 deaths (if you believe the reporting)

No, it was for the whole ignorant post. These little cloth masks everyone is running around wearing doesn’t do a damn thing but cause you to re-breath your own CO2 and shows your willingness to comply with completely asinine requests.  The go along to get along crowd are the ones causing this “new normal”! I say on that! Everyone needs to grow a pair and take off the damn masks! We have an immune system for a reason and we were not called to live in fear!

You guys aren’t getting it.  We aren’t saying the masks do anything for your health...

What we are trying to point out is that the TEA and UIL gave us simple mask guidelines to avoid exposure and play football.  It’s that simple.  If your players wear the mask 100% of the time when around other people they can not be quarantined for any reason other than reporting symptoms or testing positive.

That is all we are saying.

So why would they be quarantined if they didn't report symptoms or test positive?

I understand what you are saying.  But I can't make it make sense in my head.  The science shows that for school kids, the flu is much more dangerous than covid.  But somehow we are going to use 100X more caution for covid than we do the flu....for school kids.  I thought we were supposed to follow the science.  It is time we follow the science!  I'm not asking for less caution for school kids than we use on flu.  But I sure don't see the need for 100X more caution.

“The risk of complications for healthy children is higher for flu compared to COVID-19,” according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “However, infants and children with underlying medical conditions are at increased risk for both flu and COVID-19.”

The CDC estimates there were 480 deaths among U.S. children due to flu in the 2018-19 season, including 136 cases in which the virus was confirmed by laboratory testing.

As of mid-August, 90 children died of COVID-19 in the United States, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.

More than 46,000 children were hospitalized for flu in that 2018-19 period. The hospitalization rate among children 5 to 17 was 39.2 children per 100,000 children.

The hospitalization rate for COVID-19 is six per 100,000 children for those ages 5 to 17, according to the CDC.

but in our society today a vast majority of grandparents and even great-grandparents are raising these babies...and then again with these issues of financial issues, many families have been forced into compacted living arrangements to make ends meet $$$. with that being said, when kids all get together at school and spread COVID back and forth and then take it home to said older and less immune suppressant grands...the "explosion of death" tends to take place!!!

My understanding is that to be quarantined, they would need to be within 6 feet of someone who did test positive for 15+ minutes and neither wearing a mask.

I'm all for protecting the vulnerable.  We should do everything in our power to make sure the elderly and those that are compromised are protected.  If that means everyone in that household wearing a mask, then that should be done.

Have you seen this explosion of death as you call it since football started a month ago?

So, you can carry the virus for 14? Days before showing symptoms.  Essentially you'll need to back track for two weeks everyone you were around without a mask and then they'll need to quarantin for two weeks?  I'll pass, ill just keep living my life as normal as I can with all the sheep running around.   Both my wife and I are deemed essential  Employees and both deal with the public daily.  Wake up
